So that would not include the 7010, correct?

Have they actually confirmed that the 2015 models won't get it? Last I saw was a confirmation that the 2016 models will get it, nothing either way for the previous models.

Is there a press release or formal response regarding the firmware upgrade for existing models that can be linked?

Correct, but highly unlikely.

I got a sick deal on the 7010 so I'm not too upset given that I had no other option. Otherwise, I would have gotten an Anthem. Wondering what they will do.

imagic, thank you for your detailed and in-depth reply! That mostly clears things up for me. So is Dolby Vision considered a better option than HDR10? Would it be an upgrade for Ultra HD Blu's once it gets this feature?

Thanks again.

At the tale end of the AVS article it states that "...HEOS grants these AVRs [S730H/S930H] streaming powers and lets them act as nodes in a multi-room audio system." For "Whole House" audio purposes just how true is that?

If I have 2+ HEOS enabled AVRs can I effectively use HEOS to treat each receiver as a separate "zone" and stream the audio from one to the other...playing it all in sync?

What about TV audio (assuming its passed back to the AVR through optical or ARC) or the audio from a BluRay that I may be watching? If I'm watching "the game" in one room on a HEOS enabled AVR can I stream the audio for that game (or a BluRay) to other HEOS nodes so I can still hear it even if I can't see it?

If these lower models with HEOS will solve my "zone 2" needs then I'd be willing to sacrifice some of the higher features now and then demote this AVR to a secondary room when I can swing the $$$ for a more robust home theater setup.

Very true, just as is the case with last year's X4300H and X6300H which have the same HEOS module installed the AVR can stream PCM 2.0 audio from sources connected to it to HEOS speakers set up around the house. There is still currently a lag issue when the source is playing to the surround speakers as well which is expected to be resolved via a firmware update.

Regarding streaming audio from one HEOS AVR to another, technically it should work as long as each AVR has it's own unique name (ie. factory default is "HEOS Player").

Now I am excited to hear what is in store for the 2017 X line!
Any chance that the HEOS module will be included below the current X4300H tier?

Based on the fact that the new "S" series models (except the S530BT) will include a HEOS module, it's safe to assume that ALL of the "X" series models will as well.

Hoping that the flagship Denon and Marantz units get MQA hardware decoding support for those of use who appreciate high fidelity audio. Tidal now supports MQA for it's streaming service.

Marantz SR-7009, Oppo BPD-93, MTV 7000D, aTV, Harmony Home Control remote, KEF E301+T101, MiniDSP (2x4)+(10x10HD)+(DDRC-88A), Emotiva 2xXPA-5 (Gen2), Rythmik 2xF12G+2xF8, HiMedia Q16, LG 55EC9300.

As noted in the 2016 Denon Owner's thread, yes, although it's X4300H.

Apparently not, as noted by the following on the S930W face page ...

Quote:
Featuring 8 HDMI inputs, including 1 conveniently located on the front panel, the AVR-S930H incorporates an advanced video section that features all you need for the ultimate home theater experience: Full 4K Ultra HD, HDCP 2.2, HDR (High Dymanic Range), BT.2020, Wide Color Gamut and 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling. It is even ready for Dolby Vision and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma; via future firmware update), and owns an advanced video processor to upscale existing lower resolution video to true 4K.

Yes. You have to upgrade to the X3400H for Zone 2 HDMI monitor output.

Question HEOS and S930H instead of Sonos?

I'm in need of a new receiver and I'm thinking the S930H might be the ticket. Hoping I might get some guidance from those of you in this thread.

I currently have a Sonos Play:1 in my kitchen, and a Sonos Connect on my current receiver which feeds the living room. Thinking I could replace the Sonos stuff with an S930h for the living room, and a standalone HEOS unit for my kitchen.

As Sonos doesn't allow for airplay directly (without an airport or something), I'd love to have something that I can actually airplay ANYTHING from my mac/iphone to in a grouped or ungrouped fashion. With the S930H, can I airplay from my Mac to it and group a standalone HEOS speaker with it if I want? The reason I want airplay is so I can listen to anything on my mac, most of which consists of past episodes of BBC Radio programs (iplayer on web). I'm also a Spotify Premium user.

MOVING TO OWNERS THREAD
