My local best buy has an open box 1014, however it has no remote, mic, or manual. Would $150.00 be a fair price for this? Can any mic be used, as I have an old Radio Shack mic that could plug in? Also could I download the 1015 manual from the Pioneer website and use it, as the 1014 manual is no longer on the website. I would assume that I would have to buy a new remote control from Pioneer to operate all functions.

Thanks

Well the calibration microphone is $34 + S&H

http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/...uctNum=APM7004

And the stand for it is $10 + S&H

http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/...uctNum=AEB7269

And the remote is $67 + S&H

http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/...uctNum=AXD7381

So all the together with the $150 price of the 1014, is $261 + your local taxes + the S&H for the missing parts.
Which is probabaly just a OK deal. But not as good as what some others have done on a open box sale that did come with all the parts.

And as for using the Radio Shack microphone, even though it "might" work somewhat, and do something.
It's also very unlikely that it would work 100% correctly, and be calibrated like using the proper microphone.

I'd like to know who is accepting these returns without the parts in them. Open box is not the same as a demo that has been boxed back up AFAIK. And if its true, who are all teh low-lifes keeping the accessories out of these things? This whole return whatever I want if I can get away with it mentality that seems to be getting worse has got to be stopped.

Well just the other day someone on the forum mentioned that they bought a open box 1014 from BB, and it was missing the mic and the remote. So he went back and the BB gave him the mic and the remote from a new 815, so now that means that BB will now have a open box 815 to sell that is missing a mic and the remote.

Just how dark is it where are their brains at, for those who run these BB stores?

$150 for that receiver is a great deal. What other receiver could you get for that price-regardless of the missing accessories?

Yeah, and just also ignore the fact. That it's also missing $110+ worth of NEEDED accessories!

And what else is wrong with the 1014?

With the missing hardware, it's not worth $100.

i think its still worth it, even if you have to buy a replacement microphone. You don't need the microphone stand...its just a piece of foam with a slot cut for the microphone. You could just tape it or but some foam from michael's and make your own. As for the remote, just spend the money on a harmony remote or other programmable so you can integrate the rest of your system. With Harmony, you can just get the codes from their internet site.

If they are selling it for 150.00 and you can slap this onto it (see link) because its obviously open box i would go for it.

To say its not worth 100 or 150 is nuts. Check E-Bay, etc for the parts-they have a ton of remotes.

Use a smart remote and pick up the mic from pioneer if you can't find it on-line.

Some people use an SPL meter anyway. Since when is the calue of an avr or amp based upon the accessories? I would still take it for $150...

Considering that other people have bought a 1014 as a open box for $200 and under, and that they also came with all the accessories. Then YES, $150 is too much to pay for something that is missing both the mic and the remote.

Well, then we can agree to disagree...

Getting that receiver for under $200 as an open box is a steal.

I just bought one used for $225 and it does have everything with it but would have picked it up anyway for that price. Can always turn around and sell it for $2-250 on E-bay as is.

OneCall (www.onecall.com) has them on sale for $350 which is the lowest price I found from an authorized dealer. At that price, I didn't find it worthwhile buying from an unauthorized dealer. I should have mine next Thursday. :D

I bought an open box 1014 last week with extended warranty for 200 at BB.I used the coupon you get from their site that gives you 20% off any open box item.It didnt have the manual, remote or mic.I got the manual online then went back to BB and they gave me the remote and mic for the 815k/915k which should work just the same.

Kris,
I'd probably ask them for a better discount considering the remote and mic will add another $100+ to the price.

But in my own way, I am King. Hail to the King, baby.

I bought open box Pioneer 514K (no manual, but has remote for 814) and a set of Athena Micra 6 (miss one mounting unit for sat, no manual, no wire) for $90 and 260 on saturday.

Today I print out the 20% off coupon and went to local BB. Get back $70 without any problem. Final cost for a whole set is less than $300 after tax.

I didn't see any open box 1014, there 2 new ones there.

Back to home and set it up. It sounds great!

I also notice that they have new set of Micra 6 for $300 on clearance.

I have had a hard time finding this price as well.

All of the BB's I have gone to still have a couple of new ones to sell and won't sell the floor models until t he new ones are sold. One store actually had 3 floor models and 2 new ones left. I figure once the new ones sell, the floor's should go cheap because they got to move 3. And I am willing to bet they have the 1015's in the back just waiting to come out, because the 515 and 815's are already on the shelf.

Could anyone that's gotten great open box prices on a 1040 at Best Buy post them here?

I think it could help me talk down my local store, which wants $350 for no manual/remote etc...

Thanks

Most Right.

That would be a Pioneer 1014 I was referring to in the last post.

Visited 2 Best Buys here in Ohio with open box 1014's and the best offer they could give was $359.99 before tax... These were units without remotes and mics :(

At that price I might as well pick up a 1015 new for $449.99 shipped from an authorized dealer and get THX select 2 as well as DPLIIx - DTS layering.

x_fiddle, was that price with the 20% off coupon they have right now? If not you can use that for an extra $72 off.

Nope, they quoted me at $359.99 just with the 10% normal open box... with the coupon it would be $287.99 + $17.28 tax for a total of $305.27

I'm not sure it would be worth it at that price since a new 1015tx is only $145 more than that price...

Heck pricing out the remote, mic, and stand comes out to $139 including shipping on the pioneer site in order to replace the missing items :(

Think its still worth it to pick it up for $305 sans the remote and mic? Would kind of like the auto eq and setup feature but maybe its not that neccesary...
