Any info if this Panny will pass 1080p60 unlike the SA-XR57?

I don't think you can find a XR series receiver in Malaysia (or S.E.A.) though even if they are made in JB. (know anyone at Panasonic?)

Boo!

Hey,

I was talking to WriteSimply about this in another forum. Here is my situation:

I just bought a Samsung HL-S5687W 1080p TV. I also got myself a PS3. Right now I am using the PS3's HDMI to connect to the TV. I was previously using my computer speakers( Inspire P7800 ). I know these aren't the greatest speakers, but they aren't too bad. Since I've had the new setup, there is no way to connect my speakers and have the 7.1 surround sound work. I also want to have the completly optimcal experience from the PS3. My TV accepts TRUE 1080p in, so that is great. The sound is what I need now.

So, WriteSimply informed me that I will need some type of receiver to take the HDMI from the PS3 and then do a bunch of needed things with my speakers(cut the ends, etc.) and hook it up to the receiver in order to make it work. I was looking at the Panasonic XR-57 i believe it's called... But I was informed that this particular model does NOT keep the 1080p video signal when being sent back to the TV. Therefore, I have been looking at this particular model-- the XR700.

For me, is this the best idea? I know my speakers may blow, but if used carefully, will this be the optimal sound experience that I can get? This receiver has DTS, TrueHD, HDMI 1.3, 7.1 surround, 1080p out.. right? Will this greatly improve sound quality? Will it do anything for my video quality? Will it do anything negative? It's hard trying to absorb all this information, but this seems like the best path for me.

Any information or help is greatly appreciated. I've spent alot of money so far, and this will be another big purchase... and it's hard to decide when I know so little.

You might want to join us over here on the XR700 thread where we've been discussing the PS 3, too. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...86#post9001286

I am having the following issue with my new PS3 and Sony 5200ES receiver. I have the PS3 connected to the receiver with an HDMI cable. Then, I have the receiver connected to the TV via an HDMI-DVI cable since my TV only has a DVI input.

Now, I am getting an HDMI error because the PS3 is trying to output 7.1 LPCM HDMI audio and video. I have the receiver to output HDMI audio, but the PS3 want to send both to the TV.

So, I would like to know if the PS3 or blu ray player can send 7.1 LPCM over HDMI when the XR-700 is connected to the TV via an HDMI-DVI cable.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Hello,

I just bought the Panasonic SA-XR700 to replace my JVC RX401S. Both are digital amplifies and both support HDMI. However, the JVC did not support Full 1080p HD signals (like the one from my PS3) so I decided to upgrade.

Now I have a new problem. It does not appear that the SA-XR700 will take my Xbox 360 component inputs and output the signal over the HDMI cable to my Sharp Aquos LC42D62U.

Did I make a huge mistake, or am I doing something wrong? Is there a digital receiver similar to either of these models that supports Full 1080p and upconverts the older inputs to HDMI? Better yet, one with 3 HDMI inputs? If not the latter, then I'll at least take the former!

Thanks for your help.

I'm not aware of any consumer receiver that will do that.

Component to HDMI transcoding is generally limited to 480i and 480p input signals.

Unless you are using the HD-DVD add-on, you should use component to your display. Current Xbox360 games are 720p, upscaling via the Xbox360 is not much (if any) different than upscaling in your display. If you have the HD-DVD add-on, you should output 1080i via component to your Sharp. The differences between component and HDMI are minimal.

If understand things correctly, the Onkyo NR905 and the Onkyo SR875 can do this. But they may be in a different price range.

If what he meant was digital amplifier on the receiver, the Onkyo's are not DIGITAL. As far as I know only Panasonic and JVC make AVRs with digital amplifiers in them.

The title of this thread should have been changed a LONG time ago! IT does NOT have "HDMI 1.3 switching, DD+/DTHD/dts-HD decoding" like the title incorrectly states! talk about an irresponsible OP!

Alan, the Panasonic global site was down yesterday. Here's the link. If you look at the left, they are very clear that the firmware for the advanced codecs is for the players.

Yes, disappointing...
