Top of the line 5.1 av receiver BDS 5 audio specs. So there is no more wide band amplifier design and low distortion. It barely weights 14 lbs as oppose to 45+ lbs of existing 7550HD. I'm not sure if the 6 ohm rating is a typo as even for today's AVR HK only puts out 8 ohm specs and showing only 6 ohm rating is something new.

Audio Section
■ Continuous average power, stereo mode: 65 watts per channel,
20Hz – 20kHz, @ <0.1% THD, both channels driven into 6 ohms
■ Multichannel power: 65 watts per channel, 20Hz – 20kHz, @
<0.1% THD, all channels driven into 6 ohms

M Code,

Do you have any comments? Are they going to stop producing great amplifiers and AV receivers which made the company reputable so far and I still see people are eager buying Citation 16 amp made in 1970s while HK is going to enter this mass market stuff?

Somebody asked for M Code ...
The above subject products (Rx + Blu-ray player) are targeted for the mass market, they were originally sold in Europe and HK is now releasing these in 120V for the USA. Their new AVRs will be out in early 2011....

They do have available an excellent amplifier in the HK 990 but it is pricey, I recall the last SRP was > $2K..

As I mentioned previously in my other posts...
The original Northridge, CA HK marketing/product development team was disbanded last year, now the new team is located in China...

Just my $0.02...

Thanks. I'm waiting for Kal's review to be completed for HK 990 and the price to come down as it's too pricey now.

Guys! I put my 745 on ebay and it ends tomorrow. It is stuck at $199. That is a steal for anyone interested. I am including my perfectly working TC30 remote also. All accessories as well as the box. The unit has been flawless. I am getting desperate. Someone you know might want one - ask them to look it up. My ebay username is same as my avs username.

What gauge IEC power cable comes with the 745? I have several cables and I am not sure which one came with the 745.

Can one of you check the cable? It is written on it.

I still use the TC30 with my 7550HD, it is one of the best universal IR remote controls available... IMHO..

Just my $0.02...

Yeah - I should have just sold my receiver on eBay without the TC30 and I would have still gotten at least a $200 bid. Now my receiver is selling for $209 with 3 hours left. And this includes the TC30. I guess eBay won't allow me to amend the product and remove the TC30 remote. Yikes.

I sold my 745 on ebay and shipped it out today! I have gone retro and bought a used NAD T763 for $200 + $42 shipping. It arrives tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes. I have been using a NAD T744 for the past week to watch Bluray through Sony S5000ES BD player. This player has awesome DACs for multi channel analog and I have hooked it up that way to the NAD. I am thoroughly in love with the NAD sound and therefore started looking for other used NAD receivers. Even though the NAD T747 is on sale right now, I figured I would look for an older receiver with higher power and lower price since HDMI audio is no longer a requirement for me.

The NAD T763 is a 6.1 channel receiver (even though it can take in 7.1 channel analog input). 100 W x 6 with all channels driven. Toroidal Transformer with the ability to drive even the hardest to drive speakers!!
Hopefully it works well and at least lasts me a couple of years.

I watched Tron Legacy on Bluray using my new Sony S5000ES bluray player connected to my NAD T744 receiver using 5.1 analog interconnects and I was just super impressed. The receiver never ran out of power and rocked the house with precise bass and clear dialogs. The entire surround imaging was also great. I am just psyched about getting the T763 because it is the bigger brother of the T744. I enjoyed using HK for the past 4 years but I think I have become a NAD fan now. Also, with the right equipment and room characteristics, I have gone away from any EQ and HDMI audio. I am using multi channel analog for Bluray and optical for my iMac (which does some music listening and eyeTV for broadcast TV) and 2 channel analog for Squeezebox 3 for music playback also.

In some of the other "official" type threads, there is a FAQ so that us newbs to a given piece of gear don't have to ask stupid questions, but I haven't been able to locate one in this thread. Hell, it took me a good 30 minutes to even find this thread!

I'm just asking because I'm having some issues with my AVR 645 and I don't want to irritate people with a question that may have been asked a thousand times already. Thanks for any help.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
