Is there a good sub $500 receiver that had the common Component, Composite, etc. switching. Optical, everything you would find on a mid range receiver. But that has 7.1 analog inputs as well? I'm not sure, but when movies begin to come out with 7.1 True-HD tracks will you be able to listen to then via only HDMI 1.3? Or also analog. Also, do you have to but specific cables for this? Or will standard composite cables work good?

Here to learn.

Can't answer your question about HDMI vs. Analog in the future, but if you're looking for an affordable receiver with 7.1 analog, checkout the Onkyo 703. It's a $700 receiver new, offline, but can be found online for about $500-$550. Or you can get a refurb direct from Onkyo for $550 + shipping...

It has 7.1 analog inputs, but one drawback is it doesn't have HDMI inputs, if that's something you're also looking for.

I use normal composite cables for 5.1 analog inputs and they work fine.
