I am looking for an AV Receiver or Video Processor with 2 HDMI outputs (actually 1xDVI and 1xHDMI would be sufficient). I cannot be alone in using 2 displays with my HT system! Surely these manufacturers realise that a lot of us with projectors also use a smaller display in the house for daylight viewing?

I would like to avoid having 3 different boxes to handle Audio, Video and HDMI splitting. It looks to me as if the new Denon Mk2 might do the trick, but I only need about 1/5th of it's power and functionality, and also don't really want to spend $7000.

I could maybe do what I need with a good AV receiver and 1:2 HDMI splitter for about $1500, but would still prefer it all in the same box. It just seems a very high premium to pay ($4500) just to have them in the same box!

Any product suggestions very much appreciated.

I, too, have been researching the 2 HDMI output solution that is identical to your own. I have both a flat screen and a projector, and have found the Marantz SR8001 as a viable option with 4 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs. If you have found any other options, do let me know.

Thanks for the update, sounds good. I actually gave up for a while, and am delaying another few months until the prices of 1080p 50" plasma come down here (Thailand) and then I'll do sdo some more research.

There was another thread here that was very good and listed all the multiple HDMI receivers on the market. Don't know if it's still kept up to date.

Bump.

Anyone else know a sub $1500 Receiver that can do two HDMI outputs, besides the Marantz's? It seems to be a feature reserved for $2000 and up.

BTW, it doesn't have to be simultaneous.

I think some of the integras do as well. The issue, from what I hear, is that you can't use both at the same time.

Any others? So far among mainstream brands I have seen a $5K Yahama with 2 HDMI outs, but looking for sub-$1500 as the previous poster. Would not have to be simulateneous, but would want to avoid having to put a separate HDMI switch/splitter in my AV rack...

The Pioneer Elite SC-07 has the two outputs you're looking for.....with a good deal, you can get it for between $1500 and $2000.

OK< I changed my mind - I don't really need all those functions. I really want an AVR with all the new sound formats and 2 HDMI outs - but at a price point not too much higher than the crop of $400-$500 that have all the new formats but only one HDMI out. Hard to justify an extra $1000 for the second HDMI out. Yes I know there are HDMI switches, but I really want it built into the AVR...

Not sure if you're going to find a receiver like that. The second HDMI output is still a high-end feature, and thus is going to be found on high-end, high-priced receivers.

However... you can get a 4x2 HDMI switch from Monoprice for about $80, and you might be able to make that do what you want with a little bit of creative cabling and remote control programming.

Wait a year, Onkyo will have what you need in the $600 range with 6 ins and 2 outs, while their top line receivers get by with four ins and two outs.....

Although I'm sure the EDGE will be a great product, the 2nd HDMI out only passes audio, so it can't drive two displays.

Ahh, spot on - my mistake. I forgot he wants video, not audio, you're absolutely right. Thanks for the correction.

Bump...

Does anyone know of any additional receivers that have come on the market this fall offering 2 HDMI 1.3 outputs (in my case they do NOT have to be simultaneous)? Cheapest I've seen on the misc. threads about this topic are between $1300-$1500 and up, and I would like to find a cheaper one if possible.

What isn't 100% clear to me is what specific equipment would I need if end up getting a reciever with just one HDMI 1.3 output? I assume it is some type of splitter/amplifier but am not sure what to look for. Thanks!

Search for item #4802 at monoprice. I believe this 4x2 HDMI switch does what you want.

I've had success with this when splitting to both a Plasma 1080p display and a 1080p projector.

I've made a few post on the Yamaha RX-V3900 thread you may be interested in
just picked mine up last Friday (Upgraded my 6 month old RX-V1800)
I have a 1080p Kuro plasma, and an Epson 1080UB FP and they both work great through the AVR.

You can use one or both HDMI outs simultaneously,
and can output audio and video (HDMI through) to your TV even with the AVR off
(when its in standby mode)

THere are a ton of RX's out there that do 2 HDMI outs but he's looking for one under $1300. That Yammy is a bit over that price retail.

care to expand on that?, sounds like you have a pretty long list
and I only mentioned the RX-V3900 because it CAN be had for under $1500 as the OP stated
I believe it is the First and ONLY RX-V model to have two HDMI outputs in Yamaha's line-up.

I didn't bother to include any of the Z series Yamaha's
a $5k Z11, or even the Z7 at $2700 That would not be much help

Who pays full retail?
I'm in freaking Canada (0.81 dollar vs U.S.)
and mine was less than $1500

I already toasted 2 HDMI switcher/splitters and tossed them as far as I could

I am going by retail as we are not supposed to discuss pricing otherwise on this board...unless the rules changed? As for HDMI switchers...if you buy crap...you get crap. that 876 looks nice for the price! (i have an 805 and LOVE it!)

if you can deal with the refurbed silver version of the 876, that's available for under $900!!! THAT'S good deal!

If folks are looking for 2 HDMI outputs that are NOT separately switched then I guess many of the discussed receivers fit the bill.

I know that a few months ago when I looked for receivers with separately switched HDMI outputs I didn't see much out there as an option, and I ended up with the 4x2 switch from Monoprice.

This worked well for awhile until my InFocus burned up, and I replaced it with a Panasonic projector. Great projector, but I have having all kind of issues with the switching, from no signal display to the cable box squawking about an invalid DVI input.

I've talked with Monoprice and swapped my old rev level switch for the newer one. This seems to help with some of the issues, but the new switch needs to be rebooted periodically or I get snow or an error message on one or both of the output devices.

NET: Anyone know if there is a receiver out there in a reasonable price range that does 2 true separately-switched HDMI outputs?

Current AVR with 2 HDMI out that I have found in the price range you specified:

Marantz 6004
Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH

Pioneer appears to be a great value piece...

Do you want them output simultaneously or be able to switch between them? The ones mentioned switch bewtween the outputs. If you want simultaneously it will be more money and there aren't many that can do it.

I had almost decided to go for the Marantz-6004 until I read some alarming reports about it crapping out, the so-called Pop of Death (although its still unclear to me if its just due to incompatibility with some of the set-top boxes or the unit itself). There's a long thread about this issue somewhere on this forum. But as I live in Brazil, where servicing or replacing the Marantz wouldn't be easy, there's no way I would risk it now. Guess I'll go with the Pioneer, my ear probably won't hear the diff and it sounds like it'll be reliable, cheaper, and good value for money.

I like the 2 HDMI outputs for TV + projector. Any convincing arguments for a different receiver + splitter for under $1000?

For under $1500 you can get either Onkyo 1007 (~$1100) or the 3007 (~$1300)

Both have dual hdmi out.
