Dockep, I did that and also deleted the entire favorites "group" with no success.  The next step according to Yamaha is to ask vtuner to "rest" the account associated with the MAC ID of the receiver so I have initiated that and will let you know when I receive a response.

Eng, what type of receiver are you using where your bookmarks work?

idsi,

I mentioned in an earlier post that my receiver is an RX-N600. I just happened to stumble on this thread for the RX-V1700/2700 as a last resort search after I had wasted several hours trouble shooting my own system. I was also experiencing connect errors and couldn't access anything.

Today, the service was restored and everything came back including bookmarks. It all works perfectly again. I don't know how the RX-N600 bookmarks differ from those of the RX-V1700/2700 but I no longer have any problems.

Note everyone Yamaha asked that I delete all bookmarks and if it still did not work have vtuner DELETE my MAC address/ID.  Vtuner deleted my receivers MAC address and account and that DID NOT fix it so don't waste your time (and lose all your bookmarks) as that NOT the problem.

I have responded back to Yamaha that bookmarks still do not work, many people are having this problem, and that deleting the vtuner account has no affect.

Let's all keep hammering away hopefully someone will find the magic and we can once again enjoy our Yamaha receivers with the vtuner service.

- bookmarks still NOT working on RX-V2700
- no response from vTuner (adressing this issue)
- mad.gif

Of course, bookmark access via our older Yamha Devices should work! In the meantime, I connect my favorite 8 stations via the shortcuts. Maybe i already said it smile.gif

Wanted to chime in so everyone knows I am still trying to do my part since the Bookmark problem IS NOT fixed.

Yes it is true that some models work, but the high end expensive receivers like the RX-V2700 and RX-V3800 no longer work.  And just for historical perspective and documentation, the bookmarks no longer working issue occurred AFTER an outage where no Yamaha receivers could connect to the vtuner service for several days.   Yamaha now claims the problem is a faulty receiver but we all know that is rubbish.  Just want to document so that if the problem is not fixed future users with the same problem won't have to waste time and will know that the service did work at one point, somebody screwed something up, and it just was never acknowledged or fixed.  Hopefully that will not be the case, but so often these things get washed over since people love to blame anything and everything except take responsibility to fix the issue----I guess the "not invented here" disease that is slowly taking over society has now infected the good people of Yamaha --- hope not but it is looking that way as the days grow into weeks.

For my part, I will try this weekend to put a packet trace on the receiver and analyze the packets to see if I can make any educated guesses as to who/what/where is to blame.  Not that it will matter most likely but at least we can document it.

Encourging progress,

I received a very polite email from vtuner yesterday indicating that they are going to do whatever they can to resolve the issue for us even if it requires working directly with Yamaha to resolve the issue.

The response from vtuner is the type of response that builds great companies-----hopefully they will follow-through and resolve the issue----I have no reason to expect otherwise so let's all be optimistic at this point and hope for the best.

Will follow-up with any updates

Cheers,

Just a FYI .. but the missing "bookmark" issue is not unique to Yamaha as it was also experienced on Denon and Marantz models as well, so more likely an issue with vTuner than the AVR itself.

---------------------------------
"JD" – jd@avscience.com ; shop.avscience.com ; 585-645-1006, AVScience - Authorized dealer for AVRs, Speakers, etc.

Daily 8am – 8pm EST (Sat/Sun too if you leave message)
Call for pricing - Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Pioneer, Onkyo, Def Tech, Atlantic Tech, Oppo
** Think the AVR is defective?  Reset the microprocessor 4-5 times.

interesting that you received a response from vTuner. i have sent them 2 separate emails going back almost 2 weeks and have not had a response to either. but the bottom line is that i don't care if they respond- just fix it!

FYI same problem, Bookmarks not working, "No content", on my Yamaha RX-V671. Worked fairly consistently until recently, not working for a while now. The bookmarks are all there in the account.

I have a Pioneer receiver in another room and vTuner works fine on it, consistently can access the bookmarks. This is definitely a Yamaha systemic problem.

All of the old links to the firmware and service bulletins for rx-v2700 and rx-v3800 service manual are dead.
Are these things still available somewhere else?

[edit] I did find a torrent on a russian site that has a rx-v2700 service manual, and the 0044 firmware

Thanks I appreciate that. I think I found them on a russian torrent tracker.

Next question: I've had this rx-v2700 for several years now, got it new.
Since day one, every now and then the hdmi connection from my cable box (Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300hd, cablevision, specifically optimum, in nj) the connection drops, video and audio cut out and the rx-v2700 front panel blinks and scrambles, then everything comes back, then a few seconds later off again, on, off, on off... every few seconds. If you leave it like that, it will do it forever and never resume working normally. Even power-cycling the unit doesn't usually help ,which blows my mind because of what I'll say in a second.

This almost only ever happens while watching an hd channel.

It's like it's de-syncing or something, not overheating or actually broken, because all I have to do to fix it is switch to any 480p channel on my cable box, wait a few seconds for the picture to stabilize, then I can switch back to any other channel.

After the "channel 08 fix" (that's the channel we switch to to "fix" it) it might be good again for 2 months, or we might need to do it again 3 times that same night.

I have replaced hdmi cables and I have even replaced the entire cable box. Previously I had a different, non-dvr model, 4200hd I think, then I added dvr to my account and they switched me to this box. Same problem existed on both. Ventilation is pretty good around the unit. It's got other components near it, but it's not closed up in a cabinet at all. Perforated steel shelf, a few inches above the ground under a glass/steel tv stand table, with no sides or doors, and several inches of open space above. It doesn't seem to be heat related anyways but it could be.

Is this a known thing?
