I'm Bummed, but I guess I'll wait since there doesn't seem to be anything else out there that can compare bang-for-the-buck wise with a 30 day money back gaurantee.

I too have a SVS pb12 ultra. It's the first time I spent some real cash on a sub but I can tell you, that if you ask it to, it will shake the concrete foundation in my basement! I had a couple of AV guys help me carry it in and set it up. We put the Star Wars pod race on and our pants and shirts were moving. All they could say was "I got to get me one of these". They stand behind their products and are made in the usa. Not knocking Emotiva, as I have never had one of their subs.

Would you rather have a yamaha v2700.... or v661 with emotiva lpa-1 7 channel amplifier?

This is probably a stupid question but when the lmc-2 comes out can I connect that to the external inputs on my Denon 2805 and use just the denon amps? I can not afford to get the preamp and amp at the same time.

So you are going to get both eventually but only one at a time? If that's the case, are you opposed to getting the amp first and use the pre-outs on your Denon? I think that would be a good starting point.

Yeah, but if you do it that way you are also effectively running two pre-amps one right into another. As you would be running a pre-pro into another pre-amp that is built into the 2805 before the signals gets amplified. Which is not the best thing in the world to do as far as making sure you have the best possible setup for sound quality. You would be better off buying a power amp first and use the 2805 as a pre-pro for it, and then later on when you have more money buy the Lmc-2.

Well the whole reason for getting the lmc-2 is to be able to use the new audio codecs for bluray. I was just wondering if it was possible. I know eventually I would need a good amp.

Not a great solution, for something that is not even a real big *must have* problem...
You probably are worrying way too much about how much you think you really need those new sound formats.

So this Denon (2805) does not have pre-out to pre-in loop around jumpers on the back?

If not I would not consider going through two pre-amps. It will raise your S/N floor and also degrade all other performance characteristics. Doing this would defeat the purpose of listening to HD music formats because you wouldn't be able to hear the benefits.

I think it's a good deal.

If I had had known the XPA5 was coming, I would have waited to purchase it instead of the LPA1.

How do you like your LPA-1?

I was all set to purchase a mps-2. But I only need 5 channels. So the XPA-5 should be perfect. A little different in technology. But interesting none the less. The amp is suppose to be able to shift power where needed. So if the front channels are driving hard and the rear are hardly working, power is suppose to shift to the front channels. Atleast I think that is what I was told. Also it is suppose to have 3db of dynamic headroom. I haven't seen more than 1.5db on most amps I've been looking at.

I like it just fine, fantastic amp worth at least 2 times what I paid for it.
Like you, I only need 5 channels, it just would have been nice to have the extra power(not that I need it).

By the way, you can reserve an XPA5 as of today Friday Feb1,2008.

I have tried several of the new receivers- 805, 3808ci etc., and had a Denon 4208r. Right now I am running pre outs from my Onkyo 805 into the IPS-1. I am loving the improvement in sound over the Onkyo 805. 2 channel stereo sounds as good as my rotel seperates. I cannot wait for the LMC-1.

Reserved mine yesterday, can't wait. Also will be getting the XPA-2 for my mains shortly after receiving this one. Both these amps look to be quite the 'bang for your buck' amps.

What are the XPA5 specifications/dimensions ? Emotiva web page, Products-Amplifiers sections does not show this XPA5.
Also, the IPS1 is Out of stock. Is there a new version coming out later this year? Thank you.

The info for the new line is on the Emotiva Lounge:
http://emotivalounge.proboards54.com...ead=1192051012

The XPA5 has the same chassis as the LPA-1, a bit heavier, though.

Thank YOU. Indeed, same chassis as LPA1 which is too long (17” W x 7.75” H x 19” D) for my new entertainment center and 5 ch only.

If I may ask, any news regarding IPS1 which is now out of stock. Are they going to release a new version or continue with IPS1. Could not find any IPS1 related info on Emotiva site.

Interesting… In this case, why didn’t they post “Discontinued” instead of “Out of stock”? Anyway, I am wondering what will be Emotiva’s Amp line from now on. XPA-5 for sure and MPS-2 I assume since one can still order it. Anyone has more info or pointers to Emotiva amp line?

I want to update my HT (still lots of reading and researching to do...) and initially I was attracted by Denon 4308. Then someone suggested the separates and right now thinking at Integra DTC 9.8 and IPS1. Since IPS 1 is discontinued, what are the other amp options in this price range?

I am still looking into modifying my entertainment center to accommodate the XPA5’ depth, but I’d rather not do it.

Emotiva's amp lineup will include the LPA-2, 7x125@8ohms, XPA-5 discussed above, XPA-2 2x300@8ohms, and MPS-2. The LPA-2 will be very inexpensive, great bang for the buck.

I own an MPS-1 with an Integra 9.8. Phenominal combo. Sounds and looks great.

Where does it say it can shift power when needed? I know the new axiom amp can do that.

Thank you fst96se. Indeed looks great and I'm sure it sounds great too.
Good to know that is a good combo. Most likely I will not have the MPS but I hope I can fit the XPA5. Will see...

Frankly, I wish they had been more upfront about the status of the IPS-1. There was no indication that the product was going to be discontinued, not to mention with no planned replacement. Apparently, from what was said on the Emotiva Lounge, they didn't sell enough at the original $1199 price. Interesting now that their product line has the budget LPA-2 ~$500 and top-of-the-line MPS-2 at ~$1700 and no 7 channel amp in between. Apparently there isn't the demand. Obviously, the XPA-5 and XPA-2 could be combined to serve as a 7-channel amp, but you are nearly at the same cost as a MPS-2 which has a smaller footprint and Class H topology. Of course, there will be other differences (like the XPA-2's power vs. the MPS-2) and we'll have to wait a little while longer to see the full specifications.

Best,
Josh

They do have the DZA-1 amp coming later this year. Perfect way to go 7 channels with an XPA-5. 2x75W @ 8ohms. $99!

So I can't really tell what the difference is between the XPA-5 and the MTS-2 (aside from the 2 extra channels).

I currently have an Ovkyo 905, but might need more power for my new Paradigm Sig's coming in March. I was thinking:

Onkyo 905 - pre-pro, and rear-surround amp
XPA-5 fronts, center, and side-surround amp

Does that make sense? What about bi-amping the fronts, would I just split the RCA cable from the 905 pre-outs to two amp inputs on the XPA-5? So:

Onkyo 905 - pre-pro, rear-surround amp, side-surround amp
XPA-5 bi-amped FR/FL, single-amp center

Does that work? For $800 and the apparent quality, it seems like a great way to give me the increased power to at least my front speakers? Or am I crazy?

TiVo is on it's way out -

Would you guys mind sharing your thoughts on this. I already have an LPA-1 amp and have been using a Pioneer Elite 47TX receiver for the prepro duties. I noticed that I lost my LFE output and so I'm looking for another receiver OR Prepro. My questions are as follows:

1. Would the DMC provide better SQ than my PE?
2. Would the MMC provide better SQ than my PE?
3. What are the differences between them. From their website it looks as if the only difference is size.

It's never over, it's never finished....it's never cheap.
