Dear Rotel friends,

I´ve been a big fan of Rotel sound quality for a while. My first Rotel product was an RSP-1068 (which I still have it in a box) and I still use a RSP-1098, with RMB-1075 & RB-1080 combo. As sources I use a 400 BD magazine from Sony (CX960), an Oppo BDP-83SE and an old Crestron ADMS-BR.

During all this years I found ways to keep using my beloved silver 1098, times passed and I bought an DVDO VP50Pro to work as a scaller and HDMI switch...

All connected to a pair of CM8, CM1 and CMC2.

Now, time has passed.. And it is time for me to upgrade again...

I was offered a RSX-1562 for an awesome price, and I would like use it as a pre-pro...

I have a few questions:

1- Sound & Video quality does it matches the RSP-1098 and DVDO VP50Pro or is is beter?

2- I have read several posts indicating that there is a lag bug in the HDMI, I can cope with this, but.. Is there any other serious bug affecting the RSX-1562?

3- Is the RSX-1562 good enough so I can finally let my 1098 and the VP50Pro go?

Thank you very much!

Listening is the best experience.

I am looking at power amps for the Monitor Audio Gold speakers I am getting.

I was looking at Anthem until I came across various rotel query threads and found that the RB-1582 MK II is rated at 200wpc at 0.03THD wheras the anthems quoted power is at 1% meaning the real power figure is possibly closer to 150wpc.

I would be starting with this amp to give me more power in stereo listening, whilst also feeing up more for the other speakers (until I add anothet 5 channel amp).

I would then be purchasing the RB-1555 or the RB-1585.

I am looking towards a 2+5 channel amp configuration because many 7 channel receivers only give around 100-120wpc...which despite being better for surround applications leaves me with less power than I currently have for stereo listebing with my yamaha rx-v3071 (150wpc 2channels driven, 0.08%THD into 8 ohms ).

I know that 120wpc for the surrounds is plenty ( in fact it is their rated rms input ) but the centre channel is rated the same as the fronts at 200watt rms.

Would the lower power for the centre channel be insufficient and/or is the lack of balanced inputs enough to make the 1585 significantly better or a requirement for my use?

I will be running 7.2 and will have the largest floorstanders, centre and surrounds in the series.

Hi everyone,

my name is lam, this is what i bought a few years ago but never set it up to it full potential.

I got a pair of ML- vista, ML- motiff center, and a pair of ML-Fx, sub- ML- Grotto I, and pair it with the Denon DBT-3313UDCI. The receiver is a rotel 1560 which also have a window base software to set it up. I just set it up to the best of my knowledge.

I know the setup i got is kinda old and out dated.

can some one show me how to set it up properly, cable, amp, anything. ? thanks

Would anyone consider the lack of balanced outputs on the RB-1555 enough to rule it out for long term use? ( aka, the possibility of upgrading speakers without being forced to also upgrade the power amp for lack of versatility ).

I am planning on making the power amps last until they die.

Will be getting either

1582 Mk II + 1585, or 1582 Mk II + 1555, or possibly 1585 + 1552, using the 1552 for rear surrounds in this setup.

The 1555 would power the back and side surrounds as well as the centre, 120 watt is perfect for the surrounds but perhaps shy on power for the centre, also it has no balanced outputs.

One of the reasons I want a good power amp is to lower the noise floor, any way I can.

Can I ask owners of the RMB 1585:
Can you use a mix of XLR for the front three speaker inputs, and RCA for the rears?
I don't see a switch for selecting XLR / RCA in the owners' manual.
Will they be suited to drive the B&W 804 and HTM4? I saw Kal's review, and the impression that they are warm appeals to me.
Cheers

Kal's review is what made me buy them as well Pete. They suit B&W very well

I just put together a second little system for the rare times I watch TV. I have the RMB-1585 driving 804 Nautilus and HTM2 Nautilus Center, it has no problem driving them. I also used it with 804 Diamonds, and again, no problem. I believe you can mix balanced and unbalanced without issue.

Hello. I have the int-amp RA-1570 which I love and been listening constantly for almost a year with two 683s2 B&W and an SVS sub connected to the outputs. Recently I started to notice a cracking sound coming out of it. It has happened only a couple times and after turn it it off and on again it goes away. What could be the problem? Thanks.

Well we will see. I hope it doesn't get worse. And the cracking sound was louder than the music so and follow the beat. Almost like the bass or kick drum was being hard on the amp. I hope it doesn't happen again
