Party pooper . Thanks for the info madpoet. It's been speculated in the BP-1200 thread that this player may be able to currently send these signals via bitstream. As there is currently no hdmi 1.3 receivers on the maket there is really no way to test this out. I guess only time will tell.

Well, I could be wrong then We know for sure the PS3 currently does not, it's been tested with pre-production 1.3 receivers. Not sure on the Sammy. Might have to pick one up if it does

Someday maybe I'll actually WATCH my projector...

Just a note on the Sammy. They have nicknames like Yammy, Panny, and this Sammy. What about Onkyo ?

Onky? I guess they don't bother coming up with a nickname because it's so short, like Sony, which already sounds like a nickname anyway.

Thanks for the confirmation about the PS3. I really hope the Samsung can output the Dts-HD MA bitstream from the HDMI 1.3 connector.

My friend once mispronounced it "Oinky" and it stuck ever since.

I'm planning to buy Aperion (6 ohm) speakers. Are all the new Onkyos able to support 6 ohm speakers? Thanks

$24 to ship.

Is there a different sales rep I should ask for to get free shipping?

Talking to another sales rep is not going to help. Sorry guys, free shipping is over.

Would rather pay the shipping and save $200 on the receiver
so I am not complaining.

I have emailed Onkyo about Legacy Audio Video. They are not an authorized dealer and in a separate email Onkyo confirms they will not honor the manufacturers warranty if purchased from a non-authorized dealer.

I will not order from there especially since the 804 had problems and I want to make sure its working properly. I can post the emails if anyone wants.

My sales rep was Paul.
Shipping was $28, didn't even ask for free shipping but it seems reasonable.
They said they expect it to ship the first week or two of May.

I am considering getting the 605 and setting it up as:
HDMI 1: cable tv
HDMI 2: ps3
Component 1: 360
Component 2: wii
Component 3: xbox (which will eventually be replaced with either a hd-dvd player or a blu ray player)
HDMI carries audio on the 605 and the component 1-3 will use the 3 optical audio ports. so that should work.

Component Out: TV

The first post specifies:
HDMI and Component Video Upconversion is discribed as follows
...
480i>480i 480p>480p 576p>576p 720p>720p 1080i>720p

Does that mean the 2 items on HDMI will be converted from 1080i>720p because the TV is hooked up on component?

Not quite. HD resolutions pass through as is. 480i will be de-interlaced to 480p.

So 1080i -> 1080i. 1080p -> 1080p.

I was looking at the 805 of PDF. I see they tout the six inputs for S-Video and Composite. Who has 6 non-HD sources now? If you do what? An array of VHS or Laserdisc? Just wondering when all that real estate on the back can be used for something else or shrink the AVR. At this point I have 0 of those sources and only one composite left (Xbox 360). Looking forward to 875 and its 4/1 HDMI, then I can get rid of switcher and one less IR flasher to worry about.

Does anyone know if the 605, or any of the new Onkyo line-up, has an HD Radio tuner? I saw some mention of HD radio being part of the Onkyo line-up in 2007 on another site, but did not see a specific mention of it in any of the specs.

I realize that the 605 and 805 NPAs are now available but the 705's is not. That said, do you think there would be a compelling reason to wait for the 705 as opposed to getting the 605 now as a pre-order? The main diffs. bet. the 2 are that the 705 has 3 HDMI jacks, Audyssey is multi EQ RAC as opposed to 605's 2 EQ, and the 705 has 10 more WpC. So I'm wondering if the price premium is worth it for the 705. Then again, we don't know yet what its preorder price will be.

Edit: Meant to say NPAs, not user manuals. Added link.
