Taking a rough stab at it, I would guess about 200mph in the Earth's atmosphere.

Of course air-speed is entirely different than terminal velocity. I would assume the terminal velocity of both the African and European swallows to be the same.

WARNING: I am going to go off topic

The 91 looks great for the new home system that I am going to get. 1 question...

Will the new low end regular 720p pioneer 42 inch plasma have hdmi 1.3? Not the elite, just the regular. Please let me know. TY

So after reading all the postings here, it looks like there won't be a new flagship receiver from Pioneer for yet another year; I wasted a year in waiting to replace my 49TXi.

And not only no ILink on these new receivers, but when I asked about any DVD-A/SACD support in 2007 BD players, he said he didn't think so.

This makes new Pioneers in 2007 not an option for me.

Does anyone know of any HDMI 1.3 receivers that have ILINK? I know Denon has DLINK.

Hey guys,

I have the VSX-80TXV, the first really decent HT receiver ive had. Its a fantastic stereo!

However reading this topic has got me thinking of upgrading, my 80TXV is still under a year old, which makes me hesitate to replace it, however depending on the features of these new models i may be inclined to do so.

Anyone know what the wattage output will be for these new models? Currently mine is 110x7, which is fine of course, but Id like to have more power as I am using a Pioneer SX-1280 as an amp for my front speakers, seeing as it puts out more power at a much lower THD too!

I wish pioneer would make a flagship model to go with their new line up of the receivers, however I doubt id have the cash for that anyway,

Seeing as id like to have a little more power what would be a good step up from the 80TXV?

Plus HDMI 1.3 for the new line up appears to pass both video and audio signals, which would be a plus for me since I could eliminate some cables!

Suggestions?

The real honest reason I am using my Bose, is because one of the JBL woofers blew out.

Well this officially sucks, no i link on any of the new receivers making forcing an audiophile to get a HDMI 1.2 universal dvd player which do not exist yet. The only one I know of from any manufacturer is the pioneer 600av in Japan and it is not confirmed we will get it here as an upgraded Elite model.

HDMI 1.2 universal dvd player

No, a 1.1 player that converts the DSD to LPCM, none of the new receivers have DSD decoding. The Oppo does this

Did they drop the WMA pro support? Not that it would be a deal breaker, but I could have used it with the 360 add-on.

But all Pioneer Elite receivers have a 2-year warranty.

I thought these were not available yet. I called the pioneer store and they said they are not in the country yet. The place above has them in stock and they also have the new pioneer plasmas in stock. I called them to verify and they said they have them in.
How can they have them already and the Pioneer store dont even have them?

Yesterday, I picked up a refurb VSX-84TXSi (with the latest firmware update) from an authorized dealer for just under $500 off the MSRP for a new one. I also had the opportunity to pre-order a VSX-94TXH for significantly below the $1,800 MSRP (only $280 more than I paid for the refurb 84), but I need a receiver immediately so I passed. I think he said he has 80 units coming in and a very short pre-order list.

This dealer has a Web site but can only offer the discount if bought through his B&M store in SoCal near the Ontario airport. I don't want to break any forum rules or get this dealer in trouble so PM me if you want more info.

Ann

P.S. Pioneer, like most A/V manufacturers won't honor their two-year warranty if you buy from a non-authorized dealer (like the one mentioned 2 posts below). I highly recommend buying from an authorized dealer, especially when their pre-order price is more than $225 below the unauthorized dealer's price.

Contrary to popular belief, "female audiophile" is not an oxymoron.

When are these things due out? And will there be a replacement for the 1016 (non elite) that does HDMI uncompressed sound?

Thx,

I'm no audiophile, but I purchased the vsx-516 for $300 and for that price it's amazing. There are alot of options, I especially like the midnight sound option since my special lady friend is usually in bed before I am.

My wife and I are novices when it comes to electronics. We recently purchased a Pioneer HD5070 Plasma along with Pioneer S-LF3-CR slim speaker system. We are now looking for a new receiver to compliment what we have. We definately want to get the bang for your buck. Any suggestions. We have been looking at the Pioneer Elite 81 and the Pioneer 1016. Greatful for any input as long as it on the "picking receivers for Dummies" level.

What other components will you be connecting to the receiver?
The 81 & above will allow audio and video to be separated at the receiver and allow it to process the audio and send video to the display when using HDMI connections.
The 1016 is basically an HDMI switch and will pass Audio & Video to the display.
