According to everything I've read, neither the 4308 nor the 5308 support two independent HDMI zones. Do I have that right? My understanding is that you can output a second video zone but only via component video. The two HDMI outputs only use the same source.
I am looking to drive 2 independent HDMI 1.3 zones (using 5.1 audio) and a 3rd and 4th zone with 2-channel audio. The only way I can figure out to accomplish this is using a 4x4 HDMI switch in front of everything. (I've got 4 source inputs.)
If I have to use the switch, then I'm better off cost wise going to a stand along VP and amps for each zone.
Anyone have any ideas? The 5308 seems to come the closest I've seen to the promised land, but the 2nd video zone issue kills it.
Also, am I wrong in my understanding that if the HD-DVD or BD player doesn't allow for bitstream output, then all the new HD audio and video processing in the 5308 is wasted?
