Anyone, please, can suggest some good pre/pros under $3500? I know I am out of league here since most of you always talk about ultra high end pre/pros,
but I still want to try my fortune here. sorry, "migliore", I must turn you down this time. I listened EAD Encore, it's a good piece! I like the sound,
but can't put up with its slow pace in adopting new technology. Sooner or die!

Dave, I think most of the companies who make surround processors are very slow. Proceed told me almost a year ago that they would be offering 24/96 decoding, ain't happened yet, Aragon is using 24/48 dacs and supposed to be upgrading them, ain't happened yet, Theta dealer told me it took Theta 2 years to upgrade the Casablanca, Cal audio on the market a year still no digital re-eq. Lexicon seems to be the fastest. Tag is too new for me to call. Bottom line if you are not happy with what the unit offers, don't buy it because even software upgrades could take over a year and this is the case with most of the major processor company, Lexicon excepted. It's not just EAD.

Never become so involved with something that it blinds you.

Sore Eyes,

The Integra Research RDC-7 supports 7.1 and has balanced outputs. See the following press release: http://www.gspr.com/rdc7.html

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Sore Eyes,

That was June of 2000 for the Integra Research pieces -- and they are available in the retail channel at this time.

Meridian 861: can have balanced outputs on some or all channels
Theta Casablanca (I or II): can have balanced outputs on some or all channels
Meridian 568: balanced outputs for front left, right, & center only
Theta Casanova: balanced outputs for front left, right, & center only
EAD Theatermaster (Excluding the Encore): balanced connections for front left and right, but only operate in a true balanced mode during two channel operation (the rear DACs are applied to provide two DACs each for left and right).
Proceed AVP: if memory serves balanced outputs up front, but I don't recall whether that includes the center channel or not.

Of these, I think only the Meridian 861, Meridian 568, and Theta Casablanca II will do 7.1
