I haven't even tried to use the 3800 networking lately, since installing an HTPC with a BD-R drive that is wired HDMI via an nVidia GT 430 to the 3800. It plays all the music, videos, pictures and whatever from any PC to the 3800/Kuro Elite TV anyway. It also plays internet music, videos, HD You Tube, Crackle TV, Epix HD, and HBOGo.
But I had a WHS 2003 server that all PCs could see, and the server could see all too. One day, re-did with WHS 2011 and while it saw all, no matter what I did in its settings, no other PC could access its files.
So now that server PC is running Win 7 x32 Ultimate on a 160GB drive while 4 2Tb drives combine into a drive D: (easy to set up using Computer Management under Disk Management) for 8 Tb storage. Now that the 8 (7.27 with HD caches) has 2.23 Tb left, I have added a eSata 4 Tb drive. It works great and serves up a-plenty to any PC in the network. All the data there, leaves the user PC with lots of empty HDD use.
