How can you get a line level out of zone 2 with fixed volume? As I would like to use the AVR's Tuner in another room, and still have available the main zone. Need line level out of the AVR to a Russound C-68 controller which controls the volume in eight more zones.

Quick question about component pass-through to HDMI

Does this receiver allow a 1080p component signal to pass through it to the HDMI out untouched (or at least still at 1080p)?

I sure hope so, I want to hook my Xbox 360 up to it and output it at 1080p as I have been doing, but want to have just the single output from my receiver and input on my TV in use. Also, yes it is the Xbox 360 that does not have the HDMI out.

Thanks for any and all help

Tim

any thoughts out there?

All you have to do is go into the system menu in the PS3 and switch the display mode to "automatic". It will use the highest resolution possible. "Custom" doesn't handshake with the PS3 too well.

I WISH. They only let you EQ to that fu%&in stupid noise, like that's gonna help anyone who isn't pro. I suggest turning the "sound retriever" function ON, it adds a certain umphhh to the sound IMO. Use the auto MCACC function with the mic then turn the "sound retriever" on and see if you like it better. It's supposed to enhance uncompressed audio files (impossible) and it adds a certain process to the sound that I dig.

Yeah, I tried to go into the EQ while listening to music, but I keep getting "cannot select". That's unbelievable that it doesn't give you the ability to EQ your music by ear. How do you turn the "sound retriever" function on?

I have speakers in my kitchen connected to the rear surround inputs and set as B speakers to play in the kitchen whatever is on in the living room. Problem is that the sound is much louder in my kitchen. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to lower the volume of the B speakers compared to my A speakers. Can anyone help me out on this? Thanks.

Hey everybody, 2 questions.

Can the 92 play music from a USB drive like the 94? I can't find any pictures of the 92 with the front cover down to even know if it has a USB input.

Also, if I use a 5.1 setup do I connect the rear speakers to the Surround or Surround Back posts?

Thanks!

the 92 does not have a USB drive - but you can connect an iPod to it.

In a 5.1 setup, the surrounds connect to the surrounds (surround back posts can be used for speakers to a different room or to bi-amp the front speakers)

Thanks alrha!

Also, can you connect an iPod directly with the included cable or do you need a dock? I read the manual but it was unclear if the dock was optional or req'd.

Will there be a problem running my 4ohm totem dreamcatchers with this receiver? Only the frontl l/r are 4ohms. Also, can I bi-amp them with the extra two channels I won't use since I have 5.1? Because if this is the case I may just get the 91. I don't need the upscaling, won't your tv or player do that? Just want the video to pass through. Thanks

Hey guys, looking at a receiver for a buddy of mine. Tried on the Pioneer website but couldn't figure this out. Is the MCACC on this receiver a multi-position one or does it just take measurements from one seating position?

Tx

Every since I was a teenager, I have had a pioneer receiver. I had surround sound before there was prologic. As a older adult, I got my first Elite receiver.
And I am on my third. So I am now subscribing to this video because I have found a authorized pioneer elite vendor (as long as order it from phone)that has the vsx 92 txh at a well below sugested price. These receiver are sure pleasing to the eye. My latest receiver is the 53 tx which still rocks. I have been wanting to upgrade for a while now. but untill now thier havent been a reason to . With hdmi 1.3a possible being the final standard in connectivity
(for a while at least even though Ive heard of 1.3b) I feel comfortable buying something relitivly futureproof. Glad I didnt get the vsx 84. So Im getting ready to piss of my wife my third major home theater purchase of the year.

Both you can choose either a single or up to 3 positions. Page 37 of the manual describes it in detail.

Hey everyone, I just sent back my Onkyo 805 and replaced it with the Pioneer 92 TXH. The main reason I did that was the fact that the lip sync issue with the 805 was driving me crazy. Well it seems that I am having a hard time fine tuning this Pioneer so that it doesn't have the same problem. There is a noticeable lag between the on-screen mouth movement and the audio. I have set my speaker distance down to 00' 01" for the front channels (and center) and that seems to help quite a bit. Is that what I should be doing to eliminate this problem? I originally ran the MCAAC (or whatever the acronym is) automatic setup with the microphone and it set the speaker distance accurately as far as actual physical distance, but the lip sync lag was pretty noticeable...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Tim

You want to put them in just the surrounds slot if you are doing 5.1 and not 7.1 =). The surrounds back is for the verrrrrry rear channel for 7.1 systems.

good to know! what happens if you put them in the surround backs? does that mess with the sound field. Do you still hear all of the effects with the speakers in the surround slots. thanks

Surround back / rear has it's only set of "effects", you could try putting them in that slot if you wanted to see what exactly you were missing, but there is much more data coming from the regular surrounds =)

You can try it, but you'll only hear the rear effects and will not get any of the side effects.

ok, that makes sense. My speakers are going to be on side and not the back anyways, since i dont have a back wall. is that a good thing or do you really need them behind you? they will be in line with the seating area, they are polk FXI A4s

The pictures look fine to me, but essentially you need to just hook them up to the SURROUND outputs.
