The only change from Ver #58 to what you posted is the DSP1 changes from 36.57 to 36.61 so it's likely to be something really small and quite possibly only EU model related.

You are wrong in 2 points

1. Change in Sub from 00.35 to 00.37 too

2. Firmware made for whole world, including US, Europe and Japan

You may check differences between models in service manual http://dump.ru/file/4603709

Don't expect such things from you

I wasn't wrong, rather perhaps I was simply unclear about what I was saying ...

I wasn't comparing the two updates you have posted (as there is no Ver # for the 1st update you posted), rather I was comparing what was provided to us as Ver #58 almost 2 years ago and the 1st update you have listed which shows no change in the Sub Ver # 37.

Only one strange thing: why 58, despite DSP1 version is 57

you don't need a Denon blu-ray player, if the budget is tight I would get one of the much cheaper options from other brands.

The thing to understand is that all Blu-ray players are essentially IDENTICAL when it comes to video and audio quality when used with an HDMI receiver. So you need to think about what features you want on the player (like Netflix streaming) to decide what you need.

thanks Batpig, I want a good audio for CD and also a good upconvertion of DVD

How about SACD, HDDVD, etc thrown in? Check out these great universal players: Oppo BDP-80 or 83 . The 80 is very good with upconversion (recommended for up to 60" screens) and audio, for under $300. The 83 has superb upconversion and audio for $499. High quality machines and top notch CS with timely FW updates.

Hello.

From official site has downloaded new updating for AVR 2808.

I have bought in shop "direct" cable COM-COM. The cable of 100 % is serviceable. Specially for insertion updating has established WinXP.

All I do under the instruction
1. Please initialize the unit as follow: Turn on the power of unit while pressing the [STANDARD] button and [DSP SIMULATION] button simultaneously.

2. When FL Display will be indicated complete is the unit inzialized.

I start the utility and when I press [Check communication] button- аll time the message “Communication check NG!”.

What do I do incorrectly?

There can be COM port on receiver doesn't work?

#3,229 ·
The EU update software you have downloaded is somewhat different than what we use here in the USA, however, the final result is likely similar. The update software starts out with PORT = COM1. Keep trying different port numbers (e.g COM2, COM3, COM4, etc.) until you get an "OK" message. You may also get a "Communication OK" message but the firmware still won't install, so select another port number that gives an "OK" message and try that one instead. If you have tried all port numbers and the firmware still won't install, there should be an alternate installation method to use called the "Specific Update Method". Try that and it should work for you.

In order to check your firmware Main Ver # and Sub Ver#, using the buttons on the front panel display (not the remote) first turn the 2808 ON (green light around power button). Then using the small power button, power the 2808 OFF (not in standby). Then turn the power of the 2808 ON with the little power button, while holding both the [RETURN] button and [STATUS] button (located under the flap on the front panel) simultaneously. After the unit powers on, each time the STATUS button is pressed, it will cycle through the various software version numbers including the Main Ver# and Sub Ver#.

i currently have this receiver pushing the following

2 Def tech towers in front

1 def tech center

1 supercube def tech

2 boston accoustics in rear (previous owner installed in cieling)

and the second zone has 2 outdoor speakers.

HERE is where the help comes in. I want to expand to 7.1 in the living room and wanted to make sure if i add 2 in ceiling speakers, that i can still have 2 zones and still have the outdoor speakers.....

If you could send me advice it would be great... felipeduran27@gmail.com

I appreciate it

Hi Felipe. We usually just answer in the forum as it helps others/lurkers. You only have 7 amps available so the surr back amps can either be used for that OR they can be assigned to Z2 as you have now, not both.

But let's look at the issue from another perspective. Why do you want back surr backs? Describe your room (or provide a diagram) size, location of seating, current surr speakers and proposed speakers. If it is an average room and you are seated near the rear wall, I'd suggest optimizing the surrs. They should be even with (90 degrees) or just a little behind you (maybe 100 degrees) and toward the sides (and if on the wall, about 2' above seated head position). See this .

just to be clear, the answer to your question is YES, you absolutely CAN have a 7.1 setup and still use the outdoor speakers. The issue is that you need to add an external amp because, when running 7.1 in the Main Zone, you have used up all 7 of your amps.

In this setup, you would run RCA's from the Zone 2 pre-out jacks (red/white) to the L/R inputs on an external 2-ch amp. Doesn't have to be anything fancy to power outdoor speakers, any old stereo amp will do (if you have an old stereo receiver lying around that will work great).
