Whenever the AVR is being problematic, the first troubleshooting step to perform is to power off the 2808 and unplug the power cord for at least 10 minutes and then power on and see if that resolves the selector knob issue. If still no joy, do a microprocessor reset (p. 50 Owner's manual), although note doing so will erase all settings and return them to factory defaults, so if you don't use the Source selector knob, I wouldn't bother with the reset. I will forward the firmware update to you, but it won't resolve your current issue.

Think you have a defective AVR? Owner's manual - Factory reset 4-5 times in a row.

I have never updated the firmware on my 2808CI. How do I proceed with the update?

No longer looking straight into a flashlight. Calibrate!

Same problem as in post #3851 . I have video but NO audio at all. I get audio dropout but video remains on HDMI input from Xifinty box. I have to change input then go back to same input to get sound back. I also have a WD live TV box on separate HDMI input with no problems at all. Any advice? Just run all HDMI inputs through switch box? Thanks

How do you turn off Jazz Club on HDP. I'm connecting FireTV on HDP input, but I don't want Jazz Club or any listening modes.

Check the manual for surround mode buttons -- the easiest way is to flip open the panel on the front and look in the upper left where there are buttons for "Standard", "DSP Simulation", "Pure Direct", and "Direct/Stereo". Jazz Club is one of the DSP modes, so if you are looking for standard multich playback use "Standard" and for 2ch playback use the "Direct/Stereo" button.

Sorry, but no PM received as you must have a minimum number of posts to send a PM (15?).

Please forward your non-gmail/non-edu email address to me at jd@avscience.com requesting the 2808CI firmware. Note this update applies to the USA model only.

Troubleshooting AVR-988

Hello Guys,

I´ve been troubleshooting an Denon AVR-988 and I found a strange anomaly on frequencies from 30hz to 100hz. It´s OK on higher frequencies.
As I can´t here anything strange on the drivers I´m thinking that this can be because of Al24 Processing Plus.

Please refer to the videos in the link below: Unfortunatly the system doesn´t allow me to post links becaus I´m a new user.

It seens that it has another wave runing in the background with almost the same frequency as the original wave.

Have anyone seen something like this?

Thank you,

JV

Well I found the solution to the problem above.
It actually has nothing to do with AL24 Processing Plus, it was a ground feedback.
It is odd that only affects the Denon, my Yamaha integrated AMP is normal, maybe due to the diferent architecture.

JV

Hi Guys,
Another noob question.
I just bought a subwoofer SVS-SB1000.
To connect it I need a analog coaxial cable (RCA) 50/75 ohms, right?
Or can I connect using a digital cable (110 ohms)?
BR,
JV

Digital coax cable is normally used.
