What is the difference between the AVR-2307CI and AVR-2308CI?

Also, I just noticed that the 887 and 888 models (respectively) are nearly the same receiver - what are the differences between the above models?

It'll be driving a pair of Definitive BP7002's, BP2X Rear Surrounds, CLR2002 Center and a SuperCube Reference Subwoofer, with a Sony Pearl VPL-VW50 or Black Pearl VPL-VW60 Projector, along with a Toshiba HD-DVD player.

Thank you!

it did...and while they were at it, they removed the pre-outs from the 2308 that the previous model had....step backwards

the general diff between the CI's and 887/888 is that the CI's are for Custom Installers ... they offer some settings not available on the non CI's ... functionally they are the same

The biggest difference between the old 887/2307 and the newer 888/2308 is that the newer models use DCDi video processing and accept 1080p analog signals for Component->HDMI upconversion. Considering the only 1080p component analog device I know of is the Xbox360, and it's native res is 720p, and all the new ones have HDMI... this probably isn't a show-stopping difference between the old Denon's and the new ones.

The 887 can be found for cheap if you scour, and if you like the Denon sound it's a good buy. I just compared it to an HK AVR 247 and a Sony STR-DG1000. Of the three I ended up keeping the Sony, which absolutely shocked me as until now I've never liked their receiver products.
