For speaker b on the 506 configure the back surround speaker
output to bi-amp mode.

^^ I think, Audyssey the room correction SW would recognize what speakers, sets levels and settings. If it is still can do that, with the external mic provided, maybe you should give it a try.

Audyssey will always set speakers to surround. He wanted a/b.
That takes manual manipulation. Same with bi-amp or zone2.

Need subwoofer hookup help

I have an Onkyo TX-NR609 and I need to hook up my subs. I have two passive subs powered by a pair of amplifiers. The amplifiers are 400w mono amps which I used to use with a pre-amp which I no longer have. I had them hooked them up to my Denon 3404 via a split cable (Denon only had mono sub out) and they worked fine. The Denon had no problem driving the amps and the subs. I purchased the Onkyo for its 7.2 THX certification and dual sub outs. But, the Onkyo does not output to the subs. Yes, the amps and the subs work fine. My question is: Is the Onkyo output too low to drive the amps and do I now need another pre-amp? If so, what specs am I looking for in a pre-amp? Since the pre-amp will only be driving the signal to the sub's amps, can I use something basic?

Thanks

I have your receivers bigger brother so check this first

Go to the Set Up menu

Choose 2. Speaker Setup then 2. Speaker Configuration

If the first item says Subwoofer No change it to Yes

Apologies if you have checked/know this but it's like spending an hour trying to figure why the car will not start only to find there is no petrol in the tank.
