OK, thanks. I did file a support ticket with NAD too so one way or the other I guess I'll get it. Happy new year!

I have the opportunity to buy a T175 or a T175HD for $300 more. Do you guys suggest I bite? I love the sound but all the pops and assorted HDMI issues have me worried. Does the AM200 card sound any different?

I have owned my T175HD for about 2 years with no real issues at all. An occasional HDMI lock on hesitation when switching back to satellite from another source but no loud popping issues at all.

An NAD T175HD for $300.00 is a no brainer IMO.

Yeah, I realized that after I posted. I do think having Audyssey MultEQ XT with the AM200 module would be worth the extra $300.00.

funny, I owned a T175, and really loved it's sound and it's simplicity. But also wanted all the network connectivity (streaming capability, InterNET, etc.,...), and all the other wonderful "Denon' stuff. So I ended-up with a Marantz AV8801 processor/Parasound A51 amp/Oppo BDP-105 to sort of cover both worlds- as my main system. I have a Denon AVR-2112CI/Oppo BDP-103 that I use in a separate set-up in another room, and love it.

I ended up with the 175HD, but with a VM120 card. The video scaling on the VM200 kept deciding to do its own thing at random, and I really didn't even want it. The VM120 is HDMI 1.4, so it includes ARC and CRC, which is much more useful to me. No more HMDMI issues so far.

In home audtioning the 175 and 175HD, I was never able to A/B them, but I'm fairly certain the AM200 card sounded slightly better to me than the AM100. And the added codec support (192/24 over optical for instance) was a bonus. I haven't even run Audyssey yet.

The 175HD sounds amazing,, and I am very happy with it. My only gripe is the internal switches, which occasionally cause a loud "pop" in the speakers. Its not as bad as the 175/AM100 I auditioned, but its there and its concerning.

Funny when I had my 775 with a VM150 card update, I never got CRC or ARC to work. But when they replaced with the 787 which theoretically has the same cards then everything worked.
I know the 787 has different firmware so noy sure what cause the 775 not to work.

When do you get the pops? Is it with any sources or mainly dvr/TiVo type inputs? I would have pops when the audio stream changed from 5.1 to stereo to 5.1 mainly after commercials which were in 2.0.
I had to go back a release on my 787 firmware which was causing problems with an old TiVo HD when doing commercial skips (I would lose audio or have delays).

Old thread bump:

I have a T175HD with the AM200 and VM200 cards that recently began giving me issues. Running DSP v1.34. It is out of warranty.

The display will show “CHECK DSP BOARD” and not pass any digital audio for approx. 30-45 minutes until the unit gets up to normal operating temperature (rather warm) – then the error goes away and the unit begins passing digital audio again. “Analog Bypass” seems to work fine while in this error state. I also randomly hear pops - sounds like digital clocking (sync) issues.

Sometimes, the front display won’t show ANYTHING and won’t even pass HDMI video to the TV for 5 minutes, and then the display turns on, passes HDMI video, and then displays the “CHECK DSP BOARD” error for 30-45 minutes (until warm). Seems like more than just the AM200 card might be affected?

I’ll admit the issues only started when I removed the MDC cards to thoroughly blow the unit out (maybe a static discharge happened?) – so it is likely something I caused myself – but I have seen other reports of these T175 issues with a Google search (no associated resolution to be found ). The temperature aspect seems to be an odd symptom for a static discharge fault, no?

Any pointers? I tried multiple factory resets, I re-seated all cards again, and double checked all grounds – everything looks OK. I have also tried re-flashing the firmware after the unit warmed up (flash successful followed by factory reset), but same issues occur until the unit is warmed up. I also tried disconnecting EVERYTHING but AC power to eliminate external variables and have the same results.

On the recommendation of another AVS member, I already have a Denon AVR-X4000 on the way (mainly for the Audyssey X32, but also because it was only $850 as an open box w/full 3 yr warranty!).

A new AM200 DSP card for the T175HD is $600 – and I'm not even sure if that will resolve all of the issues. I figured $850 for an entire AVR with superior Audyssey and additional bells and whistles was likely a better prospect for my hard earned cash. I don’t even use my AVR for “Critical” 2Ch audio playback (mixing and mastering audio projects), so I’m sure the X4000 will be plenty sufficient for my HT needs regardless. But I'd LOVE to get the T175HD issues sorted if possible...

Anyone have a AM200 (or even an AM100) card they are looking to sell CHEAP?

Thanks for your time – and have a nice day!

Bump. I received the Denon AVR-X4000 I mentioned above, and it looks like I'll be fine w/o my T175HD - but I would love to get the T175HD back in good working order to possibly sell it. Any input from my previous post? Or should I just write it off as a multi-thousand dollar loss? (caused by my own incompetence )

Grazie

I had to write mine off as multi-thousand dollar loss. Mine bricked while changing a HDMI input about 1 month after warranty. I took it for service and they couldn't resolve the issue but said they could order a new main board and was quoted something around $1300. Instead I just decided to put the money towards a Denon and left my bricked unit at the repair centre as it would have cost me $50 for the troubleshooting.
