"Well, we have 1 month to go until the T175 is (hopefully) released."

I thought I read that it was delayed until May.

I'd be grateful if they made that; that'd be beating Denon to market by 2 mos. w/their HDMI 1.3 receivers.

But the NAD says it has HDMI 1.2.

Yes, maybe even in this thread.

"But the NAD says it has HDMI 1.2"

Right you are, I forgot.

So maybe May is realistic.

Well, here's the latest directly from NAD in regards to the T175 (quote):

"Are we still on schedule for an April 2007 release of the T175 Surround-Processor unit?

I appreciate your input.

Thank you for your recent request via the NAD Electronics web-site.

Unfortunately, no. We are looking at late May 2007.

Best regards,

Karen Pritchard"

Thanks for the info.

Sounds like the typical (of development projects, not just NAD) elastic timeline; sounds like July to me.

That's why, though I love the idea of the NAD, we just keep rocking along selling the NHT Controller. My recommendation is to take any due date and then double it. Prepare to repeat several times. With just about any company, this works. The NADs were only 3 months out 6 months ago Unfortunately, it's much too normal. That's why you can never compare unavailable product to unavailable product. Kinda like "if a stereo plays in the woods...."

That's great!

Is that Europe, USA, everywhere?

Can you tell us how you know this?

Thanks

I do not know when it'll be released in the USA. I visited my local HiFi dealer yesterday. In his studio was the sales manager of NAD Germany. I was going to buy the T163v2 because the T175 takes sooooo long being released.
Answer of the sales manager: "save your money for 4 weeks. There will be a better preamp, with HDMI Inputs on the marketplace"
Well, I think that's a clear answer ;-)

hmmmm, let's hope this is true. If you think about it 4 weeks from now translates to around May (which is near actual promised release date from NAD), so it could be true.

On a different subject, has anyone seen this unit:
http://www.d-mpro.com/users/folder.a...7&SubCatID=165
It's brand new from Denon Professional line, and retails for $1099.00 . This thing is very nice, only missing a few details (ie. HDMI v1.2a, analog-to-HDMI up-conversion, scaling, etc.,..), otherwise could make for a nice (separate) surround processor.

"only missing a few details (ie. HDMI v1.2a"

Is that a big deal if one doesn't care about SACD or Deep Color?

I'm thinking maybe one of these and an Audyssey Pro EQ instead of the NAD T175 pre/pro with its lesser Audyssey MultEQ.

Sorry, but I call this "highly optimistic" to say the least. I called to see if I could get any on order yet and they said "no" without further clarification. I wouldn't look for the T175 before late May, even June, to be honest. I hope it isn't so, but.......

that's just it, SACD and DVD-A is a major priority for me. I have a new Denon DVD-3930CI universal player ($1500.00), and I would want to be able to route it's 5.1 analog inputs through the Denon DN-A7100. However, I plan to get an HD-DVD/BluRay player in the near future as well and want to be able to route it's analog output through the DN-A7100. If the DN-A7100 had HDMI 1.2a or "DENON LINK III" it would work beautiful (I could route both units). I still really like the DN-A7100 though.

there you go! I'm thinking Denon will "sneak" another unit (very similiar to this DN-A7100) onto the market very soon, only with a few more features (auto set-up, scaling, etc.,...), and a conventional face-plate (non rack-mount), for the consumer market.

I was just at NAD's web site and for the life of me can't find a drop of information on the T175, or the receivers (but mayb be misremembering the mod #'s).

"Is that a big deal if one doesn't care about SACD or Deep Color?

"that's just it"

For you.

Doesn't answer my question, though.

Deep Color is my invisible friend.......

Why? Actually, as a dealer for both, expect the NAD's version of Audyssey to sound better. Audyssey is a great technology that they're not yet good at implementing. My demo is for sale though.......

"Deep Color is my invisible friend......."

Which is why I for one don't care about it

"I'm thinking maybe one of these and an Audyssey Pro EQ instead of the NAD T175 pre/pro with its lesser Audyssey MultEQ."

"Why? "

I thought that the Pro unit had a lot more processing power, which allows achieving adequate resolution in the bass.

This seems to be lacking in the MultEQ versions; from what I've read, *something* is emasculating the bass.

"Audyssey is a great technology that they're not yet good at implementing."

Are you including the Pro standalone unit in that statement?

Sent you a PM about the demo.
