Hi,

After doing some research, I came across this HK DPR 2005 that has been discontinued for two years or so. I like the fact that this 7.1 receiver has 120wpc and can do video component switching too.

The only HK unit that will give me this type of power is the HK3485, but it's only a stereo receiver, and none of the new AVR has similar power.

I found a place that sells brand new DPR 2005 for $700. Is it still worth the price? I heard it's prone to have problems. Another local PennySaver ad has a refurbed-boxed DPR 2005 for $500. Should I jump on this or pass? Other models I'm looking into are used AVR7200, AVR7300, or AVR8000. These older models have similar power I am looking for. Can someone give me some suggestion as which of these I should go for?

Thanks,

dK

I have the AVR 745 and at 85WPC with all channels driven it has plenty of power for my needs.

How much power you actually need? Don't compare HK's number to anyone else's, they tend to underestimate their number by 25-50% (depending on config) while others are rather overstating theirs...
