DenonJeff, First of all, I just wanted to say that I bought the Denon 788 from Future Shop in Canada to replace my dead Yamaha 6060. The receiver is absolutely beautiful sounding - for both music and movies. I needed something that processed HDMI audio from my PS3 blu-rays.
However, I'm a bit tee'd off that I can't use my NAD 216 amplifier on the receiver. In this price range, Yamaha, HK, Marantz give you at least 5.1 preouts. I should've done more homework on it, but I just assumed it had preouts since it's a new receiver. Low and behold, you need a 2808 for preouts.
I think this is something you should let the engineers know for the next model. At least allow owners to preout the front left and right. I don't know what I'll do with this receiver now. It sounds excellent with a great pre-amplifier section but I don't want my amp sitting there.
My Dad once said to me: "Son, quality over quantity - always"
Of course he was referring to girlfriends after high school, but the same applies to subs - which, if you are in this forum is the girlfriend we have an affair with for a running time of 2 hours in one session.
