3. Saving Receiver Configuration Before Update

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BEFORE UPDATING (OR HARD RESET IF NEEDED AT ANY POINT) BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR CURRENT CONFIGURATION USING THE WEB INTERFACE (OPTION AVAILABLE SINCE 1.57 on 3808/4308). ALWAYS TRY COMPLETE POWER CYCLE USING SMALL POWER BUTTON SEEING IF PROBLEM GOES AWAY BEFORE HARD RESET (Miroprocessor Reset "Hard Reset" Instructions below).

Procedure for saving receiver configuration using Internet Explorer (Web page control not fully functional in very early firmware releases on 3808/4308):

1. Set the GUI menu "Manual Setup" - "Network Setup" - "Other" - "Power Saving" setting to "OFF"

2. Have the receiver powered up with the main Zone turned on.

3. In Internet Explorer go to http://XX.XX.XX.XX (XX.XX.XX.XX is IP address of receiver)

4. Press "Setup Menu"

5. Press "Save" (left hand side).

6. FL display "Saving" after POWER LED lit red.

7. Please wait about 5 minutes.

8. Select "save" in File Download dialog. Please use alphanumeric, do not use "space". Recommend using: C:\\denon\\configa.dat

9. Save is completed after file is downloaded.

10. Wait for receiver to restarted automatically.

Note: AVR is restarted automatically only if power saver option turned off.

Note: There have been reports of configurations saved incomplete. You may want to repeat the above procedure and save the receiver configuration several times using different file names. i.e. C:\\denon\\configa.dat , C:\\denon\\configb.dat , C:\\denon\\configc.dat

Note: When performing a restore use the same file location and name used when saving the configuration.

Note: Recommend saving receiver configuration again after update.

Note: Audyssey settings are saved. Internet radio presets are not saved.

Note: To load a saved configuration Press "load" (left hand side) of "Setup Menu". Follow instruction on page after pressing "load"

4. Performing the Firmware Update/Upgrade

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: UPnP enabled on your network router may need disabled for update process to work correctly. Members have reported disabling UPnP on their router to resolve update and network connectivity problems with the receiver. Contact your the router manufacturer for instruction how to disable UPnP. If you do not disable UPnP on your router then you might try configuring receiver with static IP instead of DHCP prior to update or after update potentially fails.

NOTE: Recommended Methods to perform firmware update: Use GUI Interface via attached monitor, Use front display of the receiver. Perform firmware update using a hard wired Ethernet connection to the Internet (not wireless, power line or some other connection method).
Denon Knowledge Base article using wireless for firmware update: http://denon.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/denon.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=288

NOTE: Power cycle the receiver using small power button prior to performing the update. Power cycling the receiver helps clear any anomalies that may exist causing problems with the update.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Follow these instructions for 3808/4308 update for firmware versions earlier then 1.57 (i.e. 1.28), Owner reports Denon USA support recommends using these instructions when updating:

Denon 4308 update instructions:
http://usa.denon.com/AVR-4308CIFirmw...te-Web1128.pdf

Note: Owner reports needing to follow 'procedure #2' even though serial # greater then posted instruction and with receiver at firmware 1.28. Update successfully completed with receiver showing firmware 1.69.

Note: Per Denon instruction links posted, do not power cycle or reset the receiver when update in process.

Note: Per Denon instruction use Ethernet hard wired (not wireless, power line or some other connection method) connection when performing firmware updates.

Note: Power cycle receiver once update completed using small power button.

Note: Update circumstances can cause incomplete firmware module versions update. Once update completed check again for update showing 'latest', verify module versions updated.

7. When receiving 'connection failed' trying to update firmware Denon technical support advises on or about September 9, 2008 owner having Comcast ISP: "The reason why you are experiencing the "connection failed" when trying to access the firmware update is because Comcast takes much longer to make the connection than the receiver will allow. The AVR-3808CI will take about 30 hops before it times out waiting for the connection. While Comcast takes about 40 hops to connect. Therefore the connection is never made for the download. We are well aware of this issue and if there is a firmware update for comcast users we will make it available. You can take or send the unit to an authorized Denon service center and they will update the receiver with the latest firmware version. The other option, if possible, is to take the unit to a friend or relative's home where a different ISP is used. You will be able to complete the firmware update." Note: Based on Denon's explanation, this issue is not exclusive to Comcast and may be encountered with other ISP's or due to your ISP's current network traffic conditions when trying to update. Note: Based on Denon's explanation, this issue is not exclusive to Comcast and may be encountered with other ISP's or due to your ISP's current network traffic conditions when trying to update. Owner reports Denon support said they are working on this issue.

FIXED/IMPROVED

Reported by Denon USA owner and Denon European 4308 owner the following Denon change log info and are fixed in firmware 1.73, Sub 00.88/1.72, Sub 00.88 reported available August 18, 2008 for 3808 and August 8, 2008 for 4308:

- Last 2-pixel cropping at 1080p.

- Several pixels on the right hand side of the image are apparently gone or have been replaced with different information at 1080p.

- Sound (DAB) is distorted extremely loudly and totally in Zone 2. (European 4308 only)

Firmware version 1.73 (3808) and Firmware version 1.72 (4308) - 3808/4308 owners report (firmware update reported July 4, 2008):

BUGS/UPGRADE ISSUES

1. When stopping a radio station stream by holding down the enter button on the remote the display does not return and show folder station list. Work around press down arrow after stopping the radio station to display folder station list or use the stop button (found on the second smaller remote).

2. When a song is paused, browsing music server or USB folders behaves erratically. Should either browse correctly or not allow browsing when song is paused. Do not pause a song and browse music server or USB folders.

3. When receiver NET/USB music server playback of MP3's that have UTF-16 formated tags last letter missing of title, album, artist. Work around convert existing MP3's to tag format ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1 using utility program such as: http://www.mp3tag.de/en/
http://www.anytag.de/forums/index.ph...76&hl=mp3+tags

4. Internet radio continues to actively stream when receiver turned off (large power button, standby mode) and power saver turned off.

5. Net Radio presets lost after update.

6. Net Radio and Music server track information right to left scrolling shows up to 65 characters on receiver front display but only up to 53 characters on TV display before being cut off.

7. Owners report firmware update hanging when receiver display shows flash updating needing to power cycle receiver to complete the firmware update. Be patient and do not power cycle if the receiver is proceeding with the update which can take a while.

8. Owners report 4308 built-in wireless adapter WPA2 wireless encryption not establishing connection with wireless router after this update. Work around retype encryption key on receiver.

9. Owners report unable to restore previous saved configuration after this update and having done hard reset clearing all settings. Make sure unit is powered up using large power button and try Firefox version 2.0 or newer.

FIXED/IMPROVED

1. Web page control after selecting 'save' under 'setup' menu the top of the page said "Save Configration" now spelled correctly 'Save Configuration'

2. Web page control seems more responsive.

3. Receiver boots up more quickly after this update then it did when loaded with much earlier firmware main 1.28 version.

Reported by Denon USA and German owners the following Denon change log and are fixed in firmware 1.73/1.72 reported available July 4, 2008:

- Setup wrong translation in German.

- Problem for Tuner preset memory.

- Scroll speed of "Artist" becomes slow when playback music files with DLNA by network-audio.

- There is no direct "Tuner FM" or "Tuner AM" command (if customer issues tuner command twice accidentally, tuner band will change. This is an issue from an ease of use point of view)

- MVUP/down (master volume up/down) command can effect zone 2 volume if any zone 2 command has been recently sent. (MVUP command should only effect MAIN ZONE, regardless of what happens in zone 2. IR commands do not exhibit this behavior)

- Even when the function that allocates DENON Link is not used with MAIN ZONE, a digital signal is not output from ZONE-2 and ZONE-3.

- The disc where "DolbyDigital" and "TrueHD" are alternately recorded is play backed. And, when "DolbyDigital" and "TrueHD" are continuously changed, the sound is not outputted.

- When a specific stream sound source of "DTS-HD MA 7.1ch" is play backed by "5.1ch", the sound is distorted.

Firmware version 1.70 - 3808 owners report (firmware main 1.70 module updates released April 24, 2008. This firmware version module update was released only for European 3808 owners):

BUGS/UPGRADE ISSUES

1. When starting Internet Radio station play and song track information broadcast sometimes the Radio station information appears briefly in song track location, is replaced by current song information, and does not display in station information location (could be station specific). When this happens song track information does not update when song changes. You can press the left arrow, wait a few seconds, and it will then show the current song track and Radio station playing (song track information will then update when song changes).

4. Web page control after selecting 'save' under 'setup' menu the top of the page says "Save Configration"

5. Internet radio continues to actively stream when receiver turned off (large power button, standby mode).

6. German, Australia, England, French DTS HD HR titles showing incorrectly stereo signal on receiver. Signal not being decoded correctly by receiver.

7. Internet radio presets are lost after update.

8. After initiating firmware update receiver displays "Please Wait..." and does not proceed with update process after waiting extended period of time (i.e. 20 minutes waiting and still message "Please Wait..."). Power cycle receiver using small power button then retry update. Do not power cycle receiver when update in process!

9. Owner reports Denon working on firmware update to resolve disk issue encountered with New Line Cinema Golden Compass which uses different flagging. Issue encountered when down converting to 5.1

10. USB Random music play gets stuck in folders.

Note: If you are unable to update you might contact Denon support for advise, have a network technician pay you a visit, or try updating using a different ISP.

FIXED/IMPROVED

1. Except when #1 listed above occurs - Internet radio now displays correct track information when song changes for stations broadcasting song track. Album information also displayed correctly and changes when broadcast.

2. Web page control 'setup' menu spelling corrected "INFOMATION" now says "INFORMATION".

3. Surround sound quality seems improved.

4. When there are two rear surround speakers with 7.1 configuration the web interface now shows two rear surrounds. Was showing incorrectly only one rear surround speaker in web interface.

5. Net streaming seems improved.

6. EDID data stream changed for better compatibility. See thread: http://softwareblogs.intel.com/2008/...-av-receivers/

Firmware version 1.69 - 3808/4308 owners report (firmware main 1.69 module updates released April 24, 2008 for 3808 and reported available May 15th for 4308):

BUGS/UPGRADE ISSUES

1. When starting Internet Radio station play and song track information broadcast sometimes the Radio station information appears briefly in song track location, is replaced by current song information, and does not display in station information location (could be station specific). When this happens song track information does not update when song changes. You can press the left arrow, wait a few seconds, and it will then show the current song track and Radio station playing (song track information will then update when song changes).

7. German, Australia, England, French DTS HD HR titles showing incorrectly stereo signal on receiver. Signal not being decoded correctly by receiver.

8. Internet radio presets are lost after update.

9. After initiating firmware update receiver displays "Please Wait..." and does not proceed with update process after waiting extended period of time (i.e. 20 minutes waiting and still message "Please Wait..."). Power cycle receiver using small power button then retry update. Do not power cycle receiver when update in process!

10. Owner reports losing Audyssey configuration after update. Was unable to restore configuration. Update and configuration save/restore performed using wireless connection. Owner switching over to hard wired Ethernet connection to perform updates.

11. Owner reports Denon working on firmware update to resolve disk issue encountered with New Line Cinema Golden Compass which uses different flagging. Issue encountered when down converting to 5.1

12. USB Random music play gets stuck in folders.

13. If the 4308 is on and in HD Radio mode---and then you hit "DTU" on the main remote, the system will change bands (e.g. AM to FM or FM to AM). But, if you hit "DTU" immediately after powering the system on when it was last in HD Radio mode things go wacky. Work around when using a universal or Harmony remote and auto command sequence see this link: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...8#post14082938

14. HDMI random dropouts reported by several owners of some Projectors and some Sony TV's. The receiver will then re-sync the signal. This occurs during playback of various sources at random times. Not a Denon only problem.

5. Net streaming seems improved.

6. EDID data stream changed for better compatibility. See thread: http://softwareblogs.intel.com/2008/...-av-receivers/

Jeff Talmadge- Director of Product Development Denon USA reports on April 30, 2008 the following are fixed in firmware 1.69 released April 24, 2008:

- The scaling function of the HDMI input did not operate correctly when the firmware was updated to the latest version.

- Spelling error on web browser display.

- Setup menu does not coordinate with receiver front panel setting.

- When HDMI setting is set to TV pass through, some options should be grayed out (not available)

- The AVR-3808 appeared the Interpret and Title of song if you have selected an Internet radio station. (old firmware 1.05) With the new firmware 1.69 we can't see Interpret and Title of song.It only appears the name of radio station.

- When the route of TwonkyMedia (4.4.4) is selected by "Net/USB function", it is not possible to reproduce. (For only TwonkyMedia user)

Firmware version 1.69 - 3808/4308 owners report (firmware update released Feb 16, 2008):

BUGS/UPGRADE ISSUES

1. Internet radio now displays song track information for stations broadcasting song track but no change when song track changes on most stations (does not automatically update on screen). You can press the left arrow, wait a few seconds, and it will then show the current song track playing.

2. When stopping a radio station stream by holding down the enter button on the remote the display does not return and show folder station list. Work around press down arrow after stopping the radio station to display folder station list or use the stop button (found on the second smaller remote).

3. When a song is paused, browsing music server or USB folders behaves erratically. Should either browse correctly or not allow browsing when song is paused. Do not pause a song and browse music server or USB folders.

4. Some report update crashed WIFI/wired connection on many 4308/3808's. Turn DHCP off/on or set correct fixed IP settings, if using wireless after update then verify correct settings and search/rescan.

5. Some report loss of video and audio on some 3808's/4308's after update requiring a hard reset of the receiver. Some report unable to restore saved configuration without loosing video and audio again requiring hard reset to restore video and audio.

6. Some report loss of Internet radio after update on 3808/4308 after the update. Turn DHCP off/on or set correct fixed IP settings, if using wireless after update then verify correct settings and search/rescan.

7. Net Radio favorites and presets lost after update on 3808/4308.

8. Web page control 'setup' menu spelling incorrect "INFOMATION". Web page control after selecting 'save' under 'setup' menu the top of the page says "Save Configration"

9. A couple report receiver shows a 4 minute update after firmware 1.69 update performed. The 4 minute update notice continues to show despite trying to perform the 4 minute update. Receiver does not show 'latest' after trying to perform the 4 minute update. Owner reported problem to Denon, resolution pending.

10. Some report continually retrying the update when receiving 'connection failed' message. If receiver says "Please wait... Update Retry" be patient and wait for update to complete or 'connection failed'. If 'connection failed' then verify network connectivity to the receiver, UPnP is disabled on network router, turn DHCP off/on and verify IP settings or set fixed IP on receiver, then power cycle receiver using small power button. You may receive "Please wait... Update Retry" and then 'connection failed' many times until firmware update finally completes.

11. Some report after continually retrying the update when receiving "Please wait... Update Retry" and "connection failed" with firmware update incomplete, update completed following this procedure:

- Unplug the Ethernet cable.
- Turn off the main power.
- Hold down the 'Standard' and 'DSP Sim' buttons (note: microprocessor reset "hard reset")
- Turn on the main power
- After the display flashes 5 times or so release the buttons
- After the unit finishes booting up turn off the main power
- Hold the 'up' and 'down' arrow buttons (note: this described in instructions procedure #2 for firmware prior to 1.57)
- Turn on the main power
- After the display flashes 5 times or so release the buttons.
- Re-connect the Ethernet cable
- After you see an IP address in network info, try updating the firmware again.

12. Video sync loss on main Zone for 1-2 seconds intermittent when a program fades to black and using Svideo on Zone 2. Workaround plug Svideo for source device into an input other then one main Zone (i.e. HDMI) also plugged into. Video sync still lost 1-2 seconds intermittent when a program fades to black on Zone 2 but keeps loss from occurring on main Zone. This behavior may be a DirecTV HR20 problem and not Denon. Problem occurs when having both HDMI and SVideo plugged in from the DirecTV box to the receiver.

13. Analog FM radio station frequencies being skipped even though valid frequencies in Australia. Rescan did not resolve.

14. Internet radio continues to actively stream when receiver turned off (large power button, standby mode).

15. German DTS HD HR titles showing incorrectly stereo signal on both USA and German receivers. Signal not being decoded correctly by receiver.

16. HDMI random dropouts reported by several owners of some Projectors and some Sony TV's. The receiver will then re-sync the signal. This occurs during playback of various sources at random times.

Note: If you are unable to update you might contact Denon support for advise, have a network technician pay you a visit, or try updating using a different ISP.

FIXED/IMPROVED

1. When using a USB drive the playback mode Repeat and Random work now.

2. DTS-HD MA 7.1 now reporting correctly on display. Also reported fixed by Jeff Talmadge director product development Denon USA.

3. Ethernet operations seem to work faster. (i.e. Internet Radio, saving configuration, Command3808 queries). These firmware modules were updated and acceptance time from remote/IP/232 improved as reported by Jeff Talmadge.

4. Music streaming control through web interface works faster. Likely perceived due to scrolling not being painted twice and acceptance time from remote/IP/232 improved as reported by Jeff Talmadge.

5. Configuration settings should be retained after update.

6. Base seems fuller and more realistic.

7. Audyssey seems to work better. Recommend re-running Audyssey setup after update if you use MultEQ as some bass fixes were introduced.

8. Internet Radio seems more stable.

Jeff Talmadge- Director of Product Development Denon USA reports on Feb 19, 2008 the following are fixed in firmware 1.69 released February 16, 2008:

3808CI/4308CI:

1. Firmware update stops to display 'Ether WP 01MIN' and 'UPDATE CHECK OK' - fixed
2. When scrolling on Net/USB, each step is painted twice - fixed
3. Acceptance time for remote/IP/232 commands is 4 seconds - fixed, down to 2 seconds
4. Internet Radio song/title information has been restored - note, not all channels broadcast this information
5. Connectivity to Wi-Fi access points with SSID information with 'spaces' in the name has been corrected
6. The "Cars" BD disc has a Dolby TrueHD 6.1 soundtrack, however these units would display and playback only HD 5.1 - this is corrected.
7. Same as 2808CI/988 with 'New Line Cinema' dts-HD MA 7.1 titles where the front panel display would show 'dts Surround' and only 5.1 channels - this is corrected. It will show dts-HD MA 7.1.

Firmware version 1.57 - 3808/4308 owners report:

1. Internet radio stopped displaying song track information for most stations that broadcast song track.

2. Internet radio sometimes stops streaming and requires rebooting the receiver using the small power button.

3. When a song is paused, browsing music server or USB folders behaves erratically. Should either browse correctly or not allow browsing when song is paused. Do not pause a song and browse music server or USB folders.

4. This update fixed GUI crash problems.

5. Some report receiver gets stuck during update process. After waiting sometimes hours update process still stuck (some modules can take quite a while to update so be patient). First try power cycling receiver using small power button. Second try disabling UPnP on network router, and power cycling receiver. If update still gets stuck for extended period of time try hard reset (instruction link end of this post).

6. Some report receiver shows a 3 minute update after 1.57 firmware update. The 3 minute update notice continues to show despite trying to perform the 3 minute update.

8. Web page control 'setup' menu spelling incorrect "INFOMATION". Web page control after selecting 'save' under 'setup' menu the top of the page says "Save Configration"

9. EDID specification 'non-standard' causing problems with a few HTPC devices. Not a Denon only issue. If you suspect having EDID issues see this thread: http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7321

10. Internet radio continues to actively stream when receiver turned off (large power button, standby mode).

11. See update instructions for firmware earlier then 1.57 for additional bug fixes.

Note: If you are unable to update you might contact Denon support for advise, have a network technician pay you a visit, or try updating using a different ISP.

3. Receiver continues to display album art image with screen saver turned on and active.

4. Owner reports Denon support said they are working on this issue.
Denon Knowledge Base article connection failed message: http://denon.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/denon.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=293

5. Owner reports first attempt the update failed at Sflash Firm update check (18 minutes to go) - resulting in corrupted GUI. Update resumed from Sflash Firm (29 minute update time required) after power cycle using small power button and using local display for navigation rather than GUI and the update completed successfully.

BUGS/UPGRADE ISSUES

1. Web controller NET/USB Internet radio or local music server the Album or Song does not automatically update on web page when changes during play. Work around click on back arrow navigation control left of 'stop' button on Net Audio web page and wait for refresh showing current Album.

2. Web controller Setup Menu, Information, Audio Input Signal displays incorrect format 3/3/.1 when should be 3/2/.1 as displayed in GUI interface.

3. Receiver continues to display album art image with screen saver turned on and active.

4. Owner reports incomplete firmware module versions after update using wireless. Hard reset the unit, wireless connection restored, 4 minute update then showing, ran update and completed, then restored from saved configuration settings.

5. Owner reports Denon support said they are working on this issue.

Firmware version 1.05 - 5308 owners report (firmware update released Feb 16, 2008 and Sub module 0.58 update reported April 10, 2008):

FIXED/IMPROVED

Jeff Talmadge- Director of Product Development Denon USA reports on Feb 19, 2008 the following are fixed in firmware 1.05 released February 16, 2008:

AVR-5308CI:

1. Auto Setup with 6.0 channel option did not function - fixed.
2. The "Cars" BD disc has a Dolby TrueHD 6.1 soundtrack, however these units would display and playback only HD 5.1 - this is corrected.

Jeff Talmadge- Director of Product Development Denon USA reports on April 30, 2008 the following are fixed in Sub module 0.58 firmware update reported April 10, 2008:

- If the "Hi-vision-signal" inputs to the unit, it can scale to "1080i" but can not scale to "1080p".

- "Pop" noise occurs when the muting function turns on.

- The noise occurs when the input selector is changed.

- A different digital signal might be output to "OPT-4" output.

- The connectivity of HDMI is improved.

BUGS/UPGRADE ISSUES

1. Internet radio no change when song changes on most stations.

4. Web page control 'setup' menu spelling incorrect "INFOMATION". Web page control after selecting 'save' under 'setup' menu the top of the page says "Save Configration"

5. Internet radio continues to actively stream when receiver turned off (large power button, standby mode).

6. Receiver continues to display album art image with screen saver turned on and active.

8. Owner reports Denon working on firmware update to resolve disk issue encountered with New Line Cinema Golden Compass which uses different flagging. Issue encountered when down converting to 5.1

Note: If you are unable to update you might contact Denon support for advise, have a network technician pay you a visit, or try updating using a different ISP.

I updated my system without issues last night. I do have a question what setting are you restoring ? Mine didnt wipe any settings this time (except recently played internet radio) Everything seems to still be set. But I must admit I have not gone through each setting as of yet

So just wondering what you settings you lost

Thanks

Sorry to hear about those having issues with update

I've held off on updating mine so far... But it's tempting, not because there seems to be any real reason to update it from v1.57 but just to see if I can update it and survive, LOL... Now, if my 3808ci were brand new out of the box, I wouldn't hesitate for one minute to update it...

Howard68 - How old is your unit? Do you have Cable or DSL? What kind of music do you listen to? Can't rule out any possibility at this point. ;-)

I've emailed Denon support about the problem - we'll see what they come back with, if anything. To be honest, I've had this unit for about 10 days and have had nothing but problems: first in trying to get the update completed, which started automatically and left the unit virtually unusable until the update completed (took a week to get that problem straightened out through trial and error), and now the loss of internet radio.

Did you do a master reset by holding in the 'Standard' and 'DSP Simulation' buttons while cycling power with the SMALL power button and then keeping the buttons pressed until the display goes on and off 3 times? That fixed it for me (as posted above) although I had to re-enter all my settings manually.

hi everyone

just spoken to Chris, a Denon TEC, re: 3808 firmware upgrade after waiting for over 1 hour on hold.
He says I will have to take my Denon back to my dealer now if the reset does not work !!!!!

do not do the firmware upgrade!

I had no issues upgrading either. All my settings were retained as well. I did however have trouble updating through comcast service, so I updated through my Dads service(he has Optimum).

Besides that, all settings were retained, and it runs perfectly.

Hi All,
I upgraded my 3808 firmware this weekend and so far (knock on wood) it seems to be working great (no video or gui issues and all my settings were retained). I have Comcast high speed internet (cable modem) and the 3808 updated over it just fine.

Cheers,
John

Updated mine, too. First, the good news: update went smoothly, right within the 36 minutes estimate; all configuations were retained; no loss of Internet radio; and new versions are indicated on display panel.
The less serious bad news is that I am getting the bug captavs noted regarding Internet Radio displaying song track information, initially, but failing to change information when a new song begins to play on the same station. Haven't had the problem of the stream being stopped, but will report back if that does happen.

Came home this evening and decided to go with the firmware update after seeing DenonJeff's post. Upgrade went without a hitch. No sound or GUI issues. I bought my 3808ci at the beginning of January and the serial # ends in 4305. I can confirm that I also do not see the internet song name updating after the first one. The menu seems to be a little faster (although this could be my imagination)... It sounds awesome!

Captavs, kudos to you for starting this thread and doing a darn good job of keeping the first post updated with good detail!
