I have searched the forum AND the internet and I have not found an answer to my predicament, so here is my question -
I currently have a REALLY OLD amp (tubes) with 1/4 " plugs and two very heavy old speakers that I have been running our swim meet sound from. This includes a wireless microphone for the announcer and my laptop for background music. A lot of times they are on at the same time. It is a major pain in the You-Know-What to lug this stuff out every week, then put it back. The sound is a little less than OK - the microphone is fine, but the music does not sound very good. I want to stop using this old setup completely.
Our pool has just purchased 4 new outdoor speakers(Proficient) that do a fine job spreading the sound across the pool deck with an Onkyo stereo receiver.
I know how to setup the microphone to work with the receiver; I also know how to setup my laptop to work with the receiver. However , I need to be able to have them both "up" at the same time, which I cannot figure out.
Long story (finally) short, I'd like to hook up an amp to the receiver so that I can use those 4 new (wonderfully sounding) speakers and mix the announcer and the music without having to rewire the entire pool deck each swim meet? I'd like to have the amp outside with me so I can adjust as needed. The receiver is just inside at the lifeguard office. No problem with running a wire or two to the office. I am at my wit's end.
Any advice for me?
