So it has been a while since I invested in new gear. Just moved and finally connected ps3 to LED TV and from there had to go analog to my 15+ year old JVC surround sound amp. I have Cerwin Vega speakers (also 15 + years old).
When I have it all connected now I am getting buzzing, popping and crackling. I was not getting this prior to moving and having this new setup. Old setup was all analog and sounded great.

I am trying to troubleshoot the issue. I seem to only be getting the extra noise when I run this setup. FM radio output sounds good. I am using the phono input on the amp.

Seems like this is an issue due to routing through the TV. Am I right? Is using the phono input an issue? Anything else I should be considering?

Is this just going to be an issue unless I upgrade my amp?

Thanks to any help or thoughts.

The PHONO input is to be used for ONLY that. A turntable. Any other signal is waaaaaay too hot and you will get tons of distortion etc. Exactly what you are hearing.

Yea, the phono input has amplification and RIAA equalization that is extremely specific to phonograph players.
