Hey Guys,
Im new here, so bare with me. I have these annoying neighbors that blast there music all the time. We have asked them nicely to turn it down, but they continue to have the bass turned up. Its getting real bad. I had an idea. We live in a duplex, so we share the same wall and i can tell that the radio is on the same wall. I can hear the music clear enough to hear what station they are listening too. Here's my question, is it possible to get a powerful enough FM transmitter to over take the station that they listen too? If its possible, should I play crappy music that they dont like through there radio, or have a message?

Cheers
Josh

Sure, easy and cheap. Problem is that it is illegal to do what you want to do. Find another way to deal with it.

Why not outrock them? Buy a massive sub, and everytime they blast their music, rock your subs harder. A couple proper subs from Elemental Designs will shake your entire duplex.

haha, thanks guys. I have tried to out rock them. I used to play bass in a band, I set up my Peavey amp against the wall and played of an hour or so. It didnt phase them. I dont care if it illegal at this point. If its legal to use in my one home and it ends up over powering their station... oh well.

If you take over FM, they will switch to Pandora or other Internet radio. Then you need to mount DoS attack on them. It will never ends.

Check your town ordinances about noise, and if you find something useful, invite police to enforce it.

If you're in a rental unit then call the landlord and inform him of the problem. If the duplex is part of a homeowners association then check the association rules for noise regulations and call the association. And like ap1 suggested, check your town ordinances to see if you can get the police involved.

If you are the only one complaining it's just a "he said, she said" situation and both you and the neighbor are (presumably) paying your rent so there is no strong incentive for the landlord to take a side. So, unless you can enlist the help of neighbors etc. to raise the same concern, frankly, you might be the one viewed as the problem.

Just because there is a knob doesn't mean you should turn it.

What is it about this forum? Every few months I see someone who has a problem with their neighbors and they want to go for the nuclear option.

One dude was CONVINCED his neighbor was sending signals (kind of like what the OP wants to do) to screw with his equipment.

Can't we all just get along?

Don't believe everything on the Interwebz! A duck's quack DOES echo!

Sure, as long as the only thing that's shaking my bed is my GF and I.

IMO... don't buy/rent a condo, townhouse, apartment or duplex if "noise" may be an issue for either party(s).

There are contractors that you can consult to reduce noise between "shared wall" dwellings.

I see you had a water leak in your house while you were away. Too bad...hopefully nothing got ruined.
