I'm trying to achieve a setup where the sub handles virtually all lower-end frequencies and the A5+ just focuses on the upper mids and highs. My setup is a PC optical out into a DAC. DAC analog out into the A5+ inputs. A5+ varibale audio out to the AS8 inputs.
The problem is despite setting crossover at 130 the A5+ are still outputting low-end frequencies and I'm getting a "double bass" effect. I verified that the A5+ was still playing low-end frequencies by setting the xover at 130 and turning the volume completely down on the sub, instead of hearing thinner sound from the A5+, I heard the full range. Checking the xover section on page 6 of the AS8 manual it should not behave like this. Any idea why the A5+ continues to play the full range. Do I need a receiver to manage bass? I thought the sub would handle it.
I also tried an alternate connection method with the same result (A5+ continues to play full range). For this connection I tried PC Optical out to DAC. DAC analog out to the AS8 inputs and AS8 outputs to A5+ inputs.
