So I have my HT setup. A vsx-1121-k. Pioneer monitor 70s cs1 and rears and a klipsch rw12d sub. I like the way my ht sounds for movies, but when I try to AirPlay club music, it defaults to 2 channel stereo it seems, without the sub. What can I do to get the sub to handle the bass during music streaming and how to I have it remember that setting by default.

set speakers to small...
set xover to (at least) 80hz...
do not use pure direct...

that should get you what you want...

Anyway to set it for just use with AirPlay? I don't want those settings for everything.

Glad it's not just me!. (1121-k)
I have the same problem, but read on here today that some one else had the same issue to. Where in stereo it doesn't detect the sub,the guy who posted contacted pioneer and told him set speakers to large and sub to plus
If i can fine that thread i'll link it here. I did try their suggestion and the bass was better.

Agreed.

The method Pioneer is suggesting will have the sub and mains trying to play the same signal - there's a lot of potential problems associated with that approach (we ignore that the mains can't do it). Boom boom is not "right."

Put the crossover at somewhere between 60 and 90 and set the mains to small; you really aren't "giving up" that much in terms of bandwidth from the mains (so instead of going from 30-ish to some mega-thousand range, you're going from 100-ish to some mega-thousand range).

You will have to manually reset the avr for airplay vs tv/ht each time you wish to switch. You were given great advice on setting the speakers to small and X/O at 80 for starters. This will work great for music and HT. Many of us have tower speakers set to small and like the results. Setting the speakers to small does not mean your tower are not good. It is to avoid problems with the system bass management.

Klipsch RF 7 based HT 7.4, Pioneer SC 35, Acurus 200 Five, Dayton 18 Ultimxa Dual Sub Cab(2), Dayton 18 Ultimax Large Vented Sub Cab (2), on Berhinger I Nuke DPS amps, Samsung BDP F 7500, Asus/My Book Live HPC 4 TB

Yaquin VK 2100 amp, McIntosh XR 5 speakers, Samsung BDP F 7500
