Can some one recommend a few good stereo shops selling mid to hi-end hi-fi gear?

Ambrosia Audio & Video in Bel Air I think went bust.

I haven't Googled Magnolia yet.

So this is what became of Ambrosia. I guess David parted ways with his partner and opened WD.

Thanks pal. And I will check the OC recommendations as well. Haven't been to Covina in a few years.

Optimal Enchantment in Santa Monica and Upscale Audio in Upland., and...Magnolia in Santa Monica.

Upscale Audio usually has an ad in Stereophile and has a pretty wide selection of good stuff. They are a bit east of LA off of the I-10.

Optimal Enchantment is a place I have done business with for over 20 years and they have Vandersteen, Quad, Audio Research, Rotel, Ayre, etc. Highly recommended. On Santa Monica Blvd. east of 5th St. above the Radio Shack store.

Hsu Research, one of the leading Internet direct subwoofer manufacturers, has their main office and show room in Orange County. If you need a sub, be sure to go their for a demo before buying any sub at another hifi store. Their subs are equal or better to traditional speaker company subs selling at twice the MSRP.

Yep, and Ascend Acoustics is in Orange County as well.

Another closer option (I have not been there):

Really? That would be worth visiting right at the top of the list

I believe you can call ahead and make an appointment/audition. Some of the guys in our L.A. Home Theater GTG group made a visit a month or so ago but I couldn't make it as it was mid-week .
