Hey guys, I'm new here. I've been following and reading for a while but never really joined in on the discussion.

I'm fairly new to speakers, my current set is a 5.1 Jamo A320 HCS6. I just got a pair of Infinity Beta 50 floorstanding speakers and a pair Beta 20 bookshelves off Craigslist for $230. Problem is, the previous owner didn't set it up with a matching center for some reason and my existing receiver is way too underpowered for this set. I have the Denon TX-NR509 and with 5 channels everything sounds muffled and ugly.

I don't want to spend a whole lot of money and I really only need HDMI inputs and that's about it. Would stepping up to a NR609 or 709 be enough? I really like the networked connectivity of the 509.

And also for the center, I'm thinking maybe a Primus center of some sort?

Thanks ahead of time!

yeah definitely. the sound just wasn't impressing me at all compared to when i listened to it at the guys house. it also sounds quite a bit better on stereo with just the two front speakers which gives me the impression that maybe it's underpowered.
