I was initially going to purchase in-wall speakers. Due to some duct work mostly, I built my basement wall 10" away from the concrete foundation (rather than next to it). I then decided to get SVS speakers and am wondering if I can put boxes inside the wall to put speakers in (they're safe to mount on the wall). I know putting speakers in a cabinet is a big no-no. Does that apply here as well? Is there anything I can do to work around that?

Is it better to put the wall back to where it'd naturally go (doing bulk-outs for ducts) and then put up a fake wall in front using acoustically transparent fabric?

Building a budget HT that will look and perform anything but budget.
