Ok the more I'm trying to set up the more I'm sinking and finding issues
The church is trying to play music from the laptop through the mixer now the laptop has the usual USB headphone and what looks like a mic socket
The desk gas stereo. Inputs 12 in all rec out which look like a white and red phone and also effects/loop etc
I tried taken a cable from the headphone to the rec out but it just buzzes
I'm lost and admittedly out of my depth but I'm the most knowledgable person in the church lol we are doomed lol
Any help would be appreciated , getting someone in us not possible due to lack of money !
Thanks
Jay

Head to Radio Shack and pick up a line level signal isolator. it passes the audio signal from the laptop through a transfer and outputs an unbalanced line level signal that will feed the mixer. There are usually several ways to feed the mixer. Most have a line level input on each channel. it MAY be a stereo RCA connection (R&W jacks) it may be a 1/4" phone jack line input in which case you will need an RCA to 1/4 adapter.

What make and model mixer do you have?

You can PM me for my phone number and I can talk you through it.
