I received a hand-me-down Pioneer receiver and several speakers. Unfortunately, all the connections are RCA cables. Can I get sound from my current setup?

Currently, our Vizio LCD is connect to the Comcast cable box by HDMI and sound emits from the tv speakers.

Is there a way to keep the HD picture quality using the HDMI connection, but channel the sound from the cable box or tv, to the old receiver?

If it helps:
Receiver: Pioneer VSK-D701S
Cablebox: Cisco RNG200
TV: Vizio 55" LCD (model number not readily available)

I realize the sound quality will be less than desirable, but seeing if there's a chance.

Thanks for any advice!

can you just connect the RCA audio outputs from the cable box to the receiver? you might need to turn off the TV speakers, but that should be the most direct solution.

hopefully, the analog outputs from the cable box are 'always on'.

Other alternatives are the (usually fixed level) RCA outputs from the TV and variable headphone output.

I use the headphone jack to run our 2.2 bedroom system.
