pro logic 2 music or neo 6 music for better surround like ambiance and stuff? - AVS Forum

i want to have the surround casading around my ears like rainbow colored waves

so which is better for overall surround performance? im using 5.1 and this is the set im using right now, http://www.us.onkyo.com/model.cfm?class=Systems&m=HT-S3400

i plan on buying polk monitor 45b booksshelf speakers soon to replace fronts and the move on from there.

really it comes down to personal preference. I prefer pro logic II.

If you have 7.1, go with D PLIIX.  I really dig it's sound.  For example, I've been listening to Static X's Cult of Static and it sounds great using PLIIX.  PL, PLII, and Geo X, not as much.

 

I'm running all digital until the AVR makes the switch to Analog via the speakers out.

 

For LP's and other Analog sources, I normally run 2.1 and keep the signal path as unobstructed as possible.

 

Just my 2%.

Agree it's a personal thing, so here's my personal setting for Dolby Pro Logic II:

Panorama On
Dimension 0
Center Width 5

Try it and then tweak it to your taste. smile.gif
