So i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to audio but i'm learning. I see all kinds of diagrams fro 7.1 and 5.1 systems and they all have angles in relation to the speaker and the listener but I have yet to come across one that has idea distances. I'm curious. for both 7.1 and 5.1 what is the recommended distance from the rear speakers to the back row of listeners and what is the recommended distance from the side speakers to the closest listener(ie people on either end of the couch, not just the center) Thanks so much!

In most cases the distance to side and rear speakers will be determined by the walls. Your receiver/preamp will have distance (timing) and level settings to balance the differences.
