I have looked around and hope this is the best place. I need some help knowing how to set up my system. I have a Sony DAV-DZ175 1000w home theater system and I recently got a Sony BDP-S390 blu ray player to hook up to it instead of the standard DVD player that came with it. However, I am clueless how to connect the BDP-S390 to my surround sound. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

According to the internet, your HTIB head unit has:

1xComponent video output-Rear,
1xSPDIF input-Rear,
1xSPDIF input-Rear,
1xHDMI output-Rear,
1xComposite video output-Rear,
1xUSB-Front,
1xAudio line-in-Front,
1xAudio line-in-Rear

The most important thing there being NO HDMI input.

You'll need to use HDMI directly from the BR player to the TV, and send the audio from the BR player to the Sony using S/PDIF.

Post 2 pretty well covers your situation.

Page 23 of the user's manual draws you a picture.

Page 27 is actually pretty scary - it shows an automated system optimization facility w/microphone, which is pretty impressive for a system that closed out for less than $200! ;-)

Yes, but if all you need is a few meters length, any plain old RCA cable will probably work well. Try it and listen! ;-)

You may have lip-synch problems, and I didn't notice whether your lightweight AVR had a delay option to compensate for that. You may end up using the audio output on the TV to get lip synch.
