I have an Alesis DEQ230 Graphic EQ, where the audio output impedance is 220 Ohm. I want to connect it to my Logitech Z5500 speaker, where the input impedance is 8 KOhm (http://reviews.cnet.com/pc-speakers/logitech-z-5500/4507-3179_7-31115626.html).

So my question is- can I connect them directly with the 2x 1/4 mono male jack to 3.5mm stereo female jack (similar to http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP159-Stereo-Breakout-10-Feet/dp/B005HGM1D6/ref=pd_bxgy_MI_img_z)?

Yes. This is how modern audio systems are interconnected.
Impedance matching went out in the 60's.

To third it, the rule of thumb I've seen is 1:10 or better. Those numbers easily surpass that at about 1:36.

Just because there is a knob doesn't mean you should turn it.
