Hello,

We're building a new home- just broke ground, so we got a ways to go! I've convinced the wife that we need to go 7.1 SS.

We're going with in-wall speakers- I was hoping to use my Polk Audio cubes, but that got nixed wink.gif

Below is my setup. Is this OK?

More than OK. Those speaker angles look ideal. Should sound great when done.

Thanks for your input! As for the angles- these are going to be in-wall, not cubes, so I'm not going to be able to point these speakers like I'd want to.

How good are the best in wall speakers at Monoprice? I'm all about cheap HDMI cables, but speakers scare me. I don't want to invest in this setup only to put crap paper cone speakers. Does Monoprice have high quality speakers?

Thanks!!!

Never heard Monoprice speakers, so I can't tell you how good the are. But some of their models have pivoting tweeters that you can point towards the listening area.

Then don't buy the Monoprice in-walls with the "crap paper cone speakers" and instead buy the ones with the kevlar woofers.

I used these for my back surrounds.

These for the sides.

I've been pleased with them.

However, for LCR, I recommend full range speakers. Sides and rears are for ambient noises and directional cues. LCR's carry most dialog for movies, and present the front soundstage for music.

@underminded999 thanks for your input! Just to be clear- are those speakers in-wall or in-ceiling?

Both of those are labeled as in-ceiling... I've wondered if you could use either in the wall...

They are in-ceiling, but it doesn't matter, they can be used in-wall, too.

I cut the box that they came pact in, in half. Since our attic has blown in insulation, I put 1/2 of each box over the back of the speaker and then piled the insulation on and around them.

In-walls & in-ceilings don't know if they will have insulation around them, so they work with any kind of insulation, or lack there of.
