I have a friend who has an app on his phone called, "AudioTools". It will perform sweeps, measure frequency response, SPL, etc. It will then plot various curves.

Has anyone used this or tested its accuracy? I would be surprised if they could make it work accurately on all the various android devices. Are the mics in phones sensitive enough to perform these types of measurements?

I searched the forums but came up empty. If it were .99 cents I would play with it, but for $8 on google play I would rather get lunch if it doesn't work tongue.gif

I toyed around with a free SPL meter, but at least that guy was fair enough to warn about mic limitations in smartphones:

He mentions in his decription:
REMEMBER!! The smart phone microphones were aligned to human voice (300-3400Hz, 40-60dB). Therefore the maximum values are LIMITED by the manufacturers. The very loud sound(100+db) cannot be recognized. Moto Droid(max.100), Galaxy S3(81dB), Galaxy Note(91dB), Galaxy S2(98dB)...

Cool, thanks got the info. Its what I expected on frequency, but never thought about dB limit.
