Hello Everyone,

I am very new to audio system setups, and I wanted to get something to replace the terrible speakers on my flat-screen tv. I bought this stuff on Amazon, and have been trying to set it up, but it doesn't seem that the amp recognizes the speakers. Is there any information this community to give me or some troubleshooting I can do to find out where my problem lies, and how to fix it?

Sincerely,

In order to get help, you'll need to be a bit more specific about what you have connected and how it's connected. AVR manuals usually have some diagrams to help you figure out what goes where. Saying the speakers aren't recognized doesn't tell us much. eek.gif

Here is an image of the cable that I am using.

Here is how I connected it to the speakers, also showing that I labeled the black wire with some electrical tape to differentiate between the two.

Here is how I connected the speakers to the AVR

Here is how I connected the TV to the AVR

This is what is displayed when I switch it to Tuner.

The TV I am using is a Panasonic TC-p50st30.
I cant even get the AVR to play out of the tuner, and don't know what to check first.

Sincerely,

Assuming your speaker wire connections are secure and no loose wires are sticking out where they shouldn't, that part looks okay. For connecting the TV, you don't really need both HDMI and optical since the TV and AVR both support ARC, but that can be dealt with later. So the question is, have you run set up on the AVR? Follow your user's manual, it walks you through it. If you still have problems after that, post back with exactly what if any error message you got.

And I know this seems basic, but be sure you're selecting the right input on the AVR for TV.

Well The TV and AVR use ARC(Audio Return Channel) and to do so, I have to use the Optical Audio instead of the audio through the HDMI Cable, but that's something completely different. I tried running the setup again, and now i'm getting an internal error, and the manual says to send it to a retailer to have it repaired, so I guess I'm returning it.

Thank you for all of your help!

What happens if you try to listen to FM with the AVR?

Does the headphone jack on the AVR work?
