Does the audio quality suffer if it's played over wifi? I have the ATV hooked up to a Fiio E17 > Yamaha RX-V367 > PSB T6. I was figuring as long as the audio signal makes it to the ATV, the DAC will take care of converting it into a clean signal. But I'm not sure, which leads to the question, is playing over wifi even worth it besides the convenience?

No. WiFi has more than enough bandwidth to carry lossless signals.

Hi Brian,

No.

It would be a little delayed, and in some circumstances you could get drop-outs, but the audio-quality will be the same as if it was hard-wired.

I've used an Apple TV to play lossless files from iTunes for two and a half years. Until a couple of weeks ago I used a wireless network. Only very occasionally did I have signal dropouts because of interference or whatever. Now I use powerline network adapters for higher bandwidth, so I can stream high-definition video also.

Sound quality hasn't been an issue for me. I listen mostly to classical music, feeding the Apple TV into an NAD receiver and PSB Image B25 bookshelf speakers. The sound is identical (as far as I can tell) to a CD played on my Blu-ray player, connected (like the ATV) to the receiver via HDMI.
