In theory should I be able to take my two surround pre-out's (rca) and at the end place an rca splitter then take each one of those rcs' s and plug each one into one channel on my 7 channel external power amp. That way I can run 4 side surrounds off of two side surround .pre-out's.

Thanks.

You could, but it still won't be 7 ch and you may have cancellation/comb filtering issues running dual speakers on same channels like that altho I wonder if the effect would be lessened with a surround channel as compared to one of the front channels.

Thanks for the reply. I have surround back speakers to make it 7.1, I was going to do the 4 side surrounds to help with my multiple rows of stadium seating in the theater room.
