That's about as likely to happen as them (the "industry", not necessarily Dolby or DTS) also admitting that HDCP only served to hurt legitimate user's capability to reliably operate the equipment they bought and did little to nothing to stop the piracy they are so worried about.
Sad, but true. However, I don't think consumer electronics companies will want to have to navigate two separate speaker re-mapping languages for object based surround in order for their equipment to work correctly. That may mean some will adopt either DTS or Dolby's object codec, but not both.
Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!
