Hello!

Yesterday I got my hands on some old Soviet speakers , 2 to be precise. I'm not an audio guru, actually I know nothing about these sort of things...

I would love to connect both of them to my PC or TV. How could I do that? What hardware do I need?

I can provide all the info you need. Just ask wink.gif

Well, the first thing you would need is some sort of amplification (I'm assuming these 'old soviet speakers' are not powered) - i.e. a stereo amplifier or receiver.

It would also be good to know the resistance of the speakers. Do you know their ohm rating? How about sensitivity? What type of connectors do they have in the back?

AVR: DENON 2113ci
FL/R: Klipschorn
CC: Klipsch RC64ii
SUR: Polk LS F/X x 4
SUB: PSA XS15 x 4
DISP: Mitsubishi WD-73740

From what I could understand is that the resistance is 4 Oms
Regarding the sensitivity - how is that measured?

Here are all of the images I took. Hopefully that provides some info.

Cool! Just curious, how many speakers and what size? What year? From the graph, is looks to me that the speakers emphasize freqs above 750hz or so. Or de-emphasize freqs below 750hz.

Hey Larry!

I got 2 of them. The size is 4,5 inches. I did some research and it looks like they could be from the 80s-90s..

I even found a decent quality photo of them how they should have looked at their prime

Some added info about them: I confirmed that the resistance is 4 Ohms and "normal" power is 6 W (whatever that means) and the freqs are 80 Hz - 12,5 kHz

Either misread or mistranslated. It's probably "nominal".

So yeah, back to the question - how powerful Amp would I need? Or does the Wats per line only determine the loudness of the speaker itself?

It is the power required to power the speaker. You can use a lower powered amplifier but only when played quietly . You can use a higher powered one, say 100W but just don't turn the volume too high.

Usually Solid State amps have higher power ratings. There are many tube amps rated below 10W though.
