I have a Yamaha rxv-765 and have hooked up a set of presence speakers. The only difference that I can tell is that the same thing that is coming out of the central speaker (voices) is the same that is coming out of the presence speakers. Plus my rear surrounds still work. It sounds pretty good but I don't think that this is the way it should be. Any suggestions? I'm using Klipsch Reference speakers for all of the front speakers. The rears were in the wall already. Thanks.

What do you think they should be doing? What mode do you have the receiver in, one of the DSP modes?

By “presence” I assume you mean the extra front speakers Yahama uses for DSP effects? If so, if you switch between the different DSP modes you’ll hear that the sound in the presence speakers changes – e.g. some added reverb, different equalization, different volume levels, etc.

My yammy 663 brings in my "presence speakers" only when I am in "spectacle" mode. And I can dial l them in to 75db with the rest of the system in the set-up menu.. Very nice for (some) movies and ambient music. Its just a bigger sound stage, hard to discern the nature of the added content.
