i'm getting an older Harman Kardon HS 100 from a friend.
I want to play mkv movies with DTS (supported bij HS 100) from my media player (has both HDMI and optical out).
The problem is that the Harman Kardon has no HDMI ports but it has an optical in port.
Is it possible to send the DTS audio over optical cable to the harman kardon and at the same time send the video over the HDMI cable to the tv?
(btw my tv is not possible to passthrough the audio to my HS100, so that is no option)
If optical is off when HDMI is used, you need a device like this one:
That's exactly what I do and it works fine. My setup is a little complicated because I have a 65-inch RPTV and also a projector and large screen. The TV accepts component video and the projector accepts HDMI. So to keep things simple I use an HDMI switch for the projector, and just use regular digital for all of the audio sources into my receiver.
