Hello AVSers! I'm new to the world of commercial audio, however I am very experienced with home theater setups (currently have a Denon AVR x2100w with polk audio speakers on my own setup), and also with cabling (I do computer server installs, so I run and terminate RJ45 cables on the daily). A friend of mine recently asked for some help with installing a 2 zone single source audio system for his bar, and I'm simply overwhelmed with all of the choices. I was looking at the 70v systems because of:
1) Their impressive performance over long runs, and
2) The ability to daisy chain the speakers
The audio is mostly for background music, but needs the ability to be turned up to a medium volume level (about 65dBs).
There will be no need for any phone or microphone integration.
The longest run would be about 200ft.
I've already assessed the location, and drew a (very(very)) crude layout of the bar and patio area (yes, zone 2 will be outdoors).
I know the amp is in a weird location, but it is seriously the only location it can be placed without the risk of getting wet/bumped/ or otherwise bothered. Also, the cieling on the inside is an unfinished ceiling, so putting in-ceiling speakers just won't work. They have to be cabinet speakers, both inside and out.
So my questions to all of your pros out there:
Is 70v the way to go, or should I be looking at a different solution?
Is there any way you can make some equipment recommendations?
Where is a great place to really find a wealth of information on these subjects in one place where I can really learn the ins and outs of commercial audio setup (just in case I want to do this in the future).
Thank you SO much for sharing with this n00b your time and expertise.
