Hi im very excited to setup my first av receiver with my tv but not sure on what i need to get it wired.
I have read lots but it wasnt much to my understanding.
Tv is a Philips 46PFL37/f7
it has 3 hdmi in.
Coax (orange color)
and analog (white, red) audio out
The typical install is to have all the source devices (cable box, DVD player, game console, etc) connect to the AVR (your Pioneer), with a single hdmi between the AVR and tv. You let the AVR be the hub and handle all the switching.
Update- I have everything hooked up, got the dvd player working via component cable, android box is going in to the rcvr via hdmi in
and hdmi out from rcvr to tv but im reading hdmi switching on this unit is for video only and no audio ?
Cnet says i need additional audio cables. How is that possible since the android box has no other in/outputs ?
Page 11 of your manual correctly states that the 2 HDMI inputs are for audio+video.
Sadly though page 41 and 42 of the manual states you do indeed need to hook up a separate audio cable(s) digital or analog as this old receiver did not support the audio part of HDMI.
You're going to have to replace your android box with a Roku 1...they are $50.
