Music Playlist setup on oppo udp-203 usb

My Oppo UDP-203 will play music files via the usb drive. One of the options in the interface is playlists. Unfortunately, I did not find anything in the manual regarding the set up or creation of playlists. Searches through the Oppo sites have proven fruitless. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Don't you have to setup/create the playlists before copying to the USB drive?
Perhaps the Oppo only "reads" playlists and cannot "create" playlists.

When you highlight a track when browsing the music files you can use the option button on the remote to get a menu where you can add the track to only one playlist (I'm not sure but I think the playlist isn't persistent when the stick is removed). This isn't playlist functionality as available in a music server where you can maintain multiple playlists.

If you have a media library management software you may be able to generate/create cue sheets and use these as playlists.

Thanks for your reply. The concept of generating playlist prior to using occurred to me. I probably would have much greater flexibility if I used my in home server and a media library management software. My file system is a pretty basic Windows (10) setup. What software would you recommend?

I just copy the files, in my case MP3, to a folder. Then move it to the usb stick. I have to use MP3 since the reader in wife's suv will not work with wav files. And I use Media Monkey for the music servers.

Have you tried Windows Media Player?

I'm using foobar2000 to maintain my music library on a synology nas. It has decent music server functionality and can be accessed through a browser or iPad App. I think the playlist maintained on a music server can be accessed by the Oppo through the option menu.
I know foobar can generate cue sheets but I never used it in practice as I never use playlist or cuesheets myself.
I'm mostly playing entire albums and use the Oppo file interface as this is the only option for gapless playback and seamless multichannel support.
My 105D is setup with both access to the nas but the entire music library is copied to an attached usb diskdrive. It is the only option on the 105 for gapless playback and the disc also doubles up as a backup.
Recently I added the UDP203 to my system and noticed that gapless now seems to work with file access over the network as well but I need to verify this if this is truly the case or that te gap is reduced and less noticeable.

Stereo is simply Multichannel light.

Music

I have found the 203 can create playlists but not found a way to read existing ones. I tried to create one and then look to see what file format they were stored in, but they must be stored internally because it didn't appear on my plugged in USB drive.

Would be interested if anyone has any luck in this area as I have a ton of playlists created from iTunes and they weren't recognized when I exported them and added them to the external USB drive, either .msu or .xml
